What do you make of Graham's statement?
I'm listening to Malloy's show and he's talking about Graham's statement he made today about the decision. I think he is up to something (good, surprise surprise) since he knows how the Bush people are from working with McCain's presidential run in 2000. According to Malloy the nuclear option would've worked and the filibuster would've worked anyways. I'm definitley weary of course but just wondering what others think of his statement.

2. The "real" Republicans
ripped it outta the hands of the Neo/Theo cons? I don't know all that much about Graham but I have heard him make sense on occasion. It may get real interesting to watch this.

3. I think Graham actually wants to do good for the country.
I don't think he's an opportunist. His actions very much reflect the South, where sometimes you take an unpopular position just because it's the right thing to do.

He ain't so bad....he's just a good old boy, and I give him props, just this one time.

4. More on Graham
According to this statement of Graham he thought the filibuster was out of bounce. One person wrote in and thought when he said "the kids are dying" that instead of war he was talking about abortion. He's saying: "If you do everything you want in life, it's your right. Somethings you can do you shouldn't do. We're at war. Kids are dying as we speak. And I think the Senate is back in business." Malloy is saying that's one of the rational things he's heard out of a republican or democrat's mouth in a while. Basically Graham was saying sometimes you shouldn't do something just because you can. He decided to change his vote. He was going to vote against ending the filibuster rule.

and I'm glad that some DU'ers see this compromise for what it is. There are lots of angry Dems right now, but folks, the rethugs are FURIOUS. I hate to say it, but McCain and Graham come across as pretty progressive in all this. Let's just all keep this in perspective..
