Will this affect the Bolton nomination?
To me, that's the most important event coming on the political horizon. John Bolton is a disaster waiting to happen. Is this deal a capitulation to the right on Bolton or will there possibly be a fillibuster? I certainly would consider Bolton to be an example of "extreme circumstances".

3. What shoudlwe be sending to the moderates?
The next battle we have to fight is to make sure that the reps don't get much out of this deal, what should we be telling the moderates about these nomonees that they would listen to?

Surrender usually does.
There is usually some element of face-saving allowed, as there
was here. Democrats, particularly those with boll-weevil tendencies, will be allowed to pretend that they have some influence in DC, for
a little while longer. It is true that catkiller would have denied
the Dems even that.

Of course, Bolton will sail through. He's the PNAC poster-boy.
He must be in place to sabotage any real peacemaking efforts.
What are we gonna do? Filibuster?
