Hey Folks. Judges can be impeached you know.
The judges on the circuit courts don't make decisions alone; they are part of a panel of judges. If one of them starts making really crazy, wacko decisions that defy legal precedent, the other judges can dissent, and most likely will dissent. If their decisions are constantly egregious and extreme, they can be impeached. It's not easy, but it's possible. When this country gets back to normal, hopefully soon, all this shit can change. I'm not saying I'm happy about the deal, but I think in the long run we preserved the filibuster (which is all we have at the moment), and history will give us the high ground. And there is no guarantee that the judges will get through an up or down vote--the public isn't too keen on repubs in Congress about now; they are beginning to realize how inflexible and extreme the repub party has become. And we can still filibuster the SCOTUS nominee, and we have probably saved Roe v. Wade, which is what the extreme religious right just had compromised away from them today.

2. Judges can't be impeached for bad decisions.
The bar is extremely high for impeaching any federal judge -- it has to be gross misconduct amounting to criminal or extremely immoral behavior, and historically it's almost unheard-of. In any event, no matter which party is in power, mpeachment should never have an ideological basis -- that's what led to the ridiculous impeachment of Clinton.

3. Um. I said it wouldn't be easy.
And judges don't make decision by themselves.
