Compromise....Good or Bad? Neither, for now...
Looking at this, it tells me that neither side was sure what was going to happen tomorrow, and that the "moderates" on either side decided not to take the chance.

It think it's a draw, folks. I don't like Owens and Brown getting through in the short run, but our ability to fight for the Supreme Court is preserved. For now, the "Enabling Act" (ending the filibuster) that would give Bush dictatorial power over the United States has been beaten back.

My thought is that neither Frist nor Reid had much to do with this.

1. You might be right. Hope so, anyway.
At first I was shocked, outraged but as I calm down are read through all the posting, I think you hit it right on the political nail.

Thanks. :hi:

2. I was thinking the same, it's pretty much a draw.
I'm not sure I like it, but it is much better than a complete surrender, and preserves the filibuster for SC nominees.
