3. I havent even began to digest this all and
I have seen some posters blow thier stacks over this. I believe we gained some ground today by showing just how extreme these pukes are.

2. Who says we lost?
Bull!

They blinked and there is no way around it. I've seen the naysayer threads and I think they are wasting a valuable opportunity. So cut it out!

The Republicans held a majority in congress and still couldn't get the nuclear option passed. The fact that they agreed to a settlement instead of forcing it to a vote means they didn't have the votes and they knew it.

The Democrats have retained the right to fillibuster future nominees and "extreme circumstances" translates directly into "Supreme Court nominees."

The Freepers are Right and the naysaying DUers are wrong. We won! Get used to it folks. Stop believing you are losers and start acting like winners.

17. I ran into a few people talking defeatist election night 2004 before
teh damn polls even closed in teh first state. Told me they wish they had my optimisim. It's all about being defiant, you get knocked down aand you get up again. That is how it goes.

Playing devil's advocate here, but there shouldn't have been a deal at all. Commander Cuckoo Bananas is the one who won here....he's gonna get almost everything that he wants now, including change with the voting system - just in time for the '06 House and Senate elections! That will hurt bad.......

20. I'm not going to get on those threads...
because I believe this is a win for us. We are still free to filibuster the worst of these nominees and supreme court judges if we wish.

Definitely a win!

This is better than we could have hoped for had it gone to a vote.

They blinked - Frist didn't get his nuklar option.

We won!

That is my two cents on that. This is what happens when you play with fire (fundamentalists and neocons)

26. I hope you are right
I want to believe this. I guess it depends on the definition of "extraordinary circumstances" with regard to Supreme Court nominees. If we get to define it, that may be okay but if not, this basically means they can't filibuster anyone uless they are a child-rapist or something.

29. Nope. It means Supreme Court.
It's all about perception. Start acting and talking victorious and you're the victor. Watch. Both sides are going to be claiming victory. The last one to be heard is the one who will be right. Don't get suckered into the pessimism.

Eeewwww, I'm the last person to be associated with that website. My family pokes fun at me for getting so upset with what's going on, although they all voted for Kerry too.

I HAVE gone onto FR to see what they're talking about. Someone called us (here at DU) neanderthals!!!....and all this time, I thought it was the freeps who wants us to go back in time!
