A "springtime of hope" is dawning on the Middle East, with promising democratic openings under way in several countries, US first lady Laura Bush said Saturday.


Speaking to the World Economic Forum at this Dead Sea resort, Bush said a "time of unprecedented change" had brought elections in Iraq, the Palestinian territories and Afghanistan...

"Now we see a springtime of hope across the Middle East," Bush told the audience, which included myriad regional business and political leaders as well as a six-member delegation from the US Congress. "We believe the world is witnessing a new era of expanding liberty for men and women worldwide."

The president is never out in the streets, always in a totally protected environment. But he sends his wife out into hostile areas, in the public, where she can take the heckles and hate that is directed to him. I'd call that major chickenshit.
