Debunking the lies about Clark.
Why are some on the left falling for this anti-Clark rightwing crap? It's business as usual for Limbaugh, Hannity, and Horowitz but I wouldn't have predicted such behavior from those who condemned the tactics of personal destruction all through the Clinton Presidency/witch hunt and Al Gore's 2000 presidential bid.

This article attempts to bring some balance into the hysteria:

3. Are you saying people on the left only know what the right wing
tells them to know?

15. I have been using the BBC and The Guardian as sources
on the Pristina airport "WWIII incident" in which K-FOR British commander, General Sir Mike Jackson refused Clark's order to block the runways to prevent Russian paratroopers from landing.

Not everything being said about Clark is untrue, or based on GOP smears.

but what I'm saying is that there are just as many hypocrites on the fringe left as on the fringe right -- if not more.

5. Whoa Nellie!
You think because you disagree w/the info on clark as of late, it's RW lies?

There is no hysteria. Info about clark and his history is coming out. You don't like it? Tough!

Every single candidate has had to go through the same scrutiny. Why should the Perfumed Prince be any differnt?

You can spin the facts to your liking, but they are still facts.

6. Right wing
I say we do not buy into any of the media-right wing garbage for any candidate. The 10 candidates are a blessing if they continue to stick it to Bush. The worst thing we and our preferred candidates can do is degrade other Dems. Let's not help the losers out. Bush is history if we do not destroy each other.

9. The article linked to is all about things Rush Limbaugh said
And Rush Limbaugh is right wing. I'm laughing with you here; I wouldn't denounce all negative information about Clark as "right-wing lies", but I think the original poster was saying "right-wing lies" in reference to Rush Limbaugh.

10. debunking bunk..
Edited on Fri Sep-19-03 04:45 PM by MariMayans
I don't even understand what they are saying, Clark ordered them in and the only reason there wasn't a crisis was because everyone else told him to piss off. I don't think there is a point to the debunking at all because it just degenarates into nonsense. If follows right after with "extreme leftists who still insist that Milosevic was a just and democratic leader". I don't know anyone who thinks Milosevic was a "just and democratic leader" and while I was supportive of the general goal in Kosovo some of the tactics were appalling, you can be both anti-Milosevic and believe that NATO's conduct in bombing hospitals and schools was straight up state terrorism.

11. While the material cited on that page is obviously garbage...
...I don't see a lot of us paying attention to that sort of thing. I see, rather, a number of Democrats concerned about Clark's boosterism of the SOA, his statement that he would "probably" have joined Lieberman, Kerry, and Edwards in voting for Bush's "blank check" (they all deny that's what it was, but anyone who could read knows better) Iraq resolution, and so on.

Others, like myself, simply don't know enough about Clark to decide either way yet. However, I, at least, am getting mighty tired of the stampede generated by Clark supporters: "He's a General! He's the only one (according to us) who can win! Why are you hesitating? And everything that isn't pro-Clark out there is obviously rightwing propaganda! Don't wait! Join us now!!!"

As I've said before, it reminds me of nothing so much as the initial Perot hysteria in mid-1992. And we all know how that turned out...
