(Boston pix): Cross posting from Lounge - some light looking
Edited on Fri May-20-05 05:18 PM by unhappycamper
I needed a break from all the insanity around me, and decided to post something light. I have some company visiting from California, so we took a little walk around Boston. Here’s some of what we saw yesterday morning.

Welcome to Boston’s Public Gardens

George Washington guards the west entrance to the Gardens

Make way!

Now to the Frog Pond on the Boston Common

The Massachusetts 54th memorial

Right across the street is the state Capital.

The Granary Burying Grounds & some well known names

Here’s the King’s Chapel

The South Meeting Hall

Here’s my favorite building in the city

For a good time, do this

The old State House

Faneuil Hall

The Holocaust Memorial. Six towers, 4,000,000 serial numbers.

My family and I were in Boston several years ago; your splendid pics really take me back..Did you see the movie "Glory"? That memorial (the Mass 54th) is shown in the closing credits. Seeing the actual Memorial was top on my list of things to see, and I did get there. What a wonderful and eminently walkable town it is...The Freedom Trail is well worth doing. History at every step.

Thank you again for posting these!

:kick:

And BTW: CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING IT INTO THE FOUR-DIGIT CLUB!

4. You're more than welcome
I seem to recall that Robert Gould Shaw's body was recovered from the common grave at Ft. Wagner and interred at the Mt. Auburn Cemetery. This is a few miles to the west of Boston.

5. My daughter and son-in-law used to live in Cambridge; But we never
got to that cemetery..Next time we visit them (they live a bit further out) I want to see that place. It was a heck of a movie; did you see it? You might want to, if you haven't. It was wonderfully done, IMHO...Thank you for the link!
