Conservative talk radio host John Ziegler cries on stand
during his trial for libel (slander? I forget which is which) in Louisville, KY. Ziegler is a smarmy, hate-filled, lie spreading conservation neothug that was on the air at WHAS radio in Louisville. He had the 9 am to 12 noon shift for a call-in show that routinely called Dems liars, stupid, etc. You know the drill. (Limpballs followed his show.)

Anyway, back in 2003 Ziegler let his mouth overload his ass a few times too many when he started "confiding" with his listeners on the 50,000 watt Clear Channel station all the details of his "love" (IE - sex life) with a woman who co-hosts her own radio show at another station in town. Pretty much told everything, including grooming habits of special areas of her anatomy, exactly what he had to do to get her out of her clothes, you get the idea - nasty, thuggish, kiss and tell stuff to hundreds of thousands of listeners.

Well, WHAS fired his ass - incidentally, not for being a GOP, hate mongering shill (of course not!) but for saying these things on air. He promptly took a job in Los Angeles (another Clear Channel station) to continue his Lush Limpball imitation.

Well, the lady decided to sue his ass and the trial is now going on in Louisville. Ziegler took the stand in his own defense yesterday and he was just precious. His main defense was this lady is a well known person in the area so she was fair game, that everything he said he knew to be the absolute truth because he had first hand knowledge and nothing he said was all that bad. (He also made very crass comments about her and her co-host after Ziegler and the woman were no longer seeing each other.) He laughed, smirked, and generally had a good time repeating over and over again - I told the truth - you can't do anything to me for telling the truth. The woman and her attorney are arguing that even as a local celebrity she had a reasonable expectation of privacy in private matters. Not to Ziegler - he thinks he was just priceless in what he did. He laughed and yucked it up when talking about this woman - just another opportunity to smear her again, in MHO.

Now for the reason for this long soliloquy. Ziegler only got upset and cried when he had to talk about how awful his life has been since the firing. He "loved" Louisville and felt so at home here (red state birds of a feather?). He was "forced" to take a job in Los Angeles and it is just terrible. He doesn't feel at home, "it is like he isn't even in the US anymore but is an alien in a foreign world (paraphrasing here). And he just boohooed about how awful this has been on him having to live in LA. I was yelling at the TV screen during the news report - "There's no crying in neocon thuggery!" Like a typical neothug all he could think of was himself, yep, he's a repug, alright.

I just thought some of our CA DUs would love to reassure Ziegler that he is indeed in a foreign world when he gets back on the air when this trial is over (hopefully, with him several million dollars poorer).

Just in case you would like to share you opinions of him with him, here's his email address - talktozig@aol.com

Here is his web site, although I don't know if it is such a good idea to give him the hits. http://www.johnziegler.com/home.php

5. I don't think he is kin to Zig Ziegler (or his bio doesn't mention it)
but he WAS captain of his prep school golf team, graduated from Georgetown with a degree in Government and a minor in Theology and Philosophy and operates the First Church of Tiger Woods.

Overall he has the depth of a mud puddle in Death Valley, always light on facts or data but never hesitates to spread the gospel according to Rove.

His smirking on the stand while talking about this woman was pure evil - and pure Chimpy. Right down to the too-close, beady little eyes, hunching of his shoulders, facial grimaces and vacant stare when stumped for an answer. I think he was actually getting off talking about this woman.

3. Why not make an example of this?
Ziegler gets sued and possibly brought to jail, but Beck gets away with death threats against anyone he wants? Such as Michael Moore?

I don't think so.....You can't cross over the line like that.

8. classic narcissism
NPD--Narcissist Personality Disorder (google it):

Basically it's "Everything I do or say is right, and if anybody objects, then it's always "poor little me"...wah wah, big crocodile tears-- (meanwhile they will continue to aggressively abuse others every chance they get). This push-pull behavior provides a steady stream of narcissist "supply"--ie. their drug. These social vampires suck the life and resources out of others in order to feel alive. There is a clear connection to Republican-style arrogance, greed, and entitlement. In political spheres, these types tend to band together and support each other (narcissist lawyers and judges will support narcissist legislators for example).

The problem is, people who ARE kind and empathetic are taken in by such narcissist "poor me" performances everyday. They never see the patterns, the true pathology there. Very often narcissists get away with their crimes. Good for this woman in standing up for her rights. You have to fight these people very hard, because they are ruthless, vindictive, and understand nothing but severe limitations. They do not compromise. When you see how common this sickness is, it's shocking. But also when you see it, you are in a better position to avoid victimization.

We liberals especially need to understand this type of personality, as they are defining the course of our country now.

11. The April Atlantic Monthly did an amazing piece on AM hate radio
featuring an up-close-and-scary portrait of this jerk.

It's not available online; I wish it were.

What stuck out most in my mind about Ziegler is how ridiculously personal he took the OJ verdict, not only when it was handed down but on its TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY! You'd think it was the most devastating thing that could have happened to a guy.

12. He sounds like a sociopath.
Which is to say republican these days. You know the type. They love to dish out the abuse, but they whine and blubber for months if they recieve the slightest little nick.

I hope he gets reamed good.

13. He ISN'T at home here in LA. We don't want him and people call
his show and make fun of him. That's why he hates it here.
