Are Liberals the new "Jews?"

In that liberals are blamed as the cause for all the ills of society today in the same way Hitler blamed the Jews for everything that was wrong with Germany back in the 30's.

I'm currently reading Philip Roth's "The Plot Against America" (very good book!) which prompted me to ask the question.

5. I did a post about this two years ago and everyone

got upset about it and thought I was rather extreme, however now others are coming to the same conclusion. Thanks for posting this. When they start attacking whom we are and wishing we were dead and all other kinds of hateful language, we'd better be on guard.

liberals are becoming on a par with what the unions and miners were under Thatchers government. She smeared us as "the enemy within" We were painted in the largely right wing media as subversives, somehow out to wreck the country.

And (it gets worse) MI5 agents began joining Unions and attending Union meetings. They got jobs at factories where there was a history of union militancy. Many Union members were "blackballed" by the secret services from certain work sectors leaving them unemployed for life. Files were created of anyone who was active, people got paranoid. People were denounced. The paranoia and bitterness was palpable. It was like living in Stalinist Russia. It tore the movement at its heart. Be warned, the government will stop at nothing to maintain the political, social, and economic order. the smears are just the beginning, whereby they're trying to undermine your credibilty, it moves on to frightening brutal stages beyond that, including the targeted use of violence.

They try to intimidate you away from participating in protests and political activism. It needs enough people who are prepared to stand up and be counted. Keep your heads up.

If you are referring to how they were treated in the 1930s and 40s, primarily in Germany and elsewhere in Europe, then no.

I just went to the grocery store and was perfectly free to walk around and buy whatever the hell I wanted. I've got nothing on me that indicates my religion. I'm not forced to wear any special symbol.

And I'm not in a prison camp.

But it's good to keep in mind, no one thought those things would happen back then, either.

I keep remembering one person in Speilberg's "Survivors of the Shoah" documentary who was talking about his dad. He was a child at the time and he asked his father "Poppa, what's gonna happen?" And his dad said "Don't worry Schuler, they're not gonna kill us. This is the 20th century." And the man telling the story choked up at that monent. His entire family was killed.

There was a time before the Nazis started making Jews wear stars and stay off of public park benches. During that time, the Nazi hate-mongers just talked and talked and *talked* about how Jews were causing all of Germany's ills. In one of her recent books she called for killing liberals. Since she is the guiding light and chief philosopher of the Republican Party, we must take her seriously. I presume they intend to build death camps, load liberals into cattle cars, carry them to the "work camps", and hose the ashes into the pond out back. So I guess liberals are the new Jews. To be gay and a liberal right now is scary. Thank God the Second Amendment still stands. (Disclaimer: there is a strong degree of sarcasm in my post.)
