Ummm...suddenly I feel...unsafe. Very very unsafe...and rather ill...
See, although it APPEARED you & I know far more about reality and facts than bushCartel and than the media, I always believed that actually they did know at least as much, and very probably very much more, they were just lying when they said gee we didn't know, no one could have predicted...

Dunno why, but I guess I found some kind of comfort in that; they knew more but just LIED about it.

Hrmmm. Actually we DO know more. And that thought I don't find very comforting... :scared:

The Huffington Post

"The Sunday morning after the White House Correspondents dinner, I ran into Senator George Allen at a brunch thrown by John McLaughlin and his wife. Senator Allen had never heard of the missing $8.8 billion, or at least that's what he told me. And he's on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Stunned, I went up to Susan Page of USA Today and her husband Carl Lubsdorf of the Dallas Morning News, two veteran Washington political reporters, and told them about Allen's ignorance of this huge scandal . . . Turns out that Page and Lubsdorf had also never heard of the unaccounted-for $8.8 billion.

Ummm...WHAT ELSE are our senators and media unaware of???

:scared:

20. Aw, for cryin' out loud! These are people! Not all-knowing gods!
No human being can be expected to be aware of EVERYTHING!!!

Just how high is your ceiling of assumptions and expectations of human beings?

Geez. I KNOW I would be placed pretty freakin' close to the floor according to your "standards"!!!

Whoah!!!

I mean.. it's their job to know these things. I knew about it.. and I'm just an average citizen.

2. Basically, they're clueless apparently about everything. I haven't seen
much evidence of intelligence coming out of Washington for a long, long time.

3. Well, on a WP discussion
With the guy who write on the foreign press, he stated that he'd never heard of the case where the Uzbek president boiled a political dissident alive.

However, within minutes, he was provided with links to articles in The Guardian and other publications, including one Web site with photos of the deceased.

4. I think
they are "unaware" for some reason. Who didn't know about the 8.8billion. Wasn't this even on the news they lost the money? So how could they not know? Especially if someone is on the foreign relations committe. I find it bullshit.

5. I saw that earlier today, too
and found it quite scathing. Scandalous, really. Susan Page is an experienced, well-respected journalist. How is it possible she could not have known about that story? We've known about it for... what? a year or so? Since before Brenner left Iraq?

8. That little tidbit was discussed at length on CSPAN
recently during a panel discussion about the cost of war, vendors, etc. I also think they have to be lying (though can't understand why Susan Page is so ill-informed and how she'd benefit from lying).

9. Well honestly, why should we expect our elected officials to be any more
informed about government corruption than the rest of the USA?

These people are far too busy having lunch, going to meetings and making sure their campaigns are funded, and don't take the time, as we do, to ferret out reality.. to read news, exchance ideas and contemplate the corruption in the white house.

It's no excuse, believe me, but these people are just regular americans, after all.. and content in their ignorance really.

11. Exactly. The average DU'er is a political and news
junkie. An elected official has to concentrate on their immediate stuff, what they need to do their job, etc. The fact that some of our elected officials don't know stuff -- doesn't surprise me in the least.

Yeah, but it really bothers me that they admit with a sneer that
they seldom if ever read a bill before signing it. Jesus, don't you think they would be fired in any corporation if they didn't do their damn job? It's not like those bills aren't important. They just laugh and say "we don't have time to read the bills." Incompetence.

14. Who knows if they do or don't know
but if there was one serious investigaive journalist instead of a plethora of popinjays pretending to be journalists (had to use that word), they would be following up on everything Galloway said in the Senate. Instead they have ignored most of the content of his response.

13. They are worthless careerist POSs who do not do a damned thing
unless there is public outcry. They are conditioned to crisis management. This is why the manufactured and phony propaganda by the WH is went along with. They are complicit or incompatent . Clueless cowards who do not challenge and simply go along to get along.

Conyers, Waxmann, McKinney, etc... you know the names, you know what they have found. It is to be deralict in duty to no be aware of the wholesale raping and pillaging of the Constitution and treasury. Treasonous to knowingly let it happen. Maybe thats it. They're afraid of being called out for treason.

28. One of the consequences of the death of investigative journalism
and the rise of State controled media. Most 'journalists' now are just 'news readers', who simply read the news copy that they are given, often to include verbatim statements from the WH. Much easier to ignore what is going on around you when you are just a cog in the machine.
