responsible for the nuclear option and Bush's judicial choices. I think its only right to give him what he's asking for and kick him out of the senate.

5. CSPAN2 link:

This Senator Burr makes me sick. He is so stupid and he's a lying sack of shit to boot. He just said that "there was a gentleman's agreement to never filibuster a judicial nominee..." Oops, he must not have seen the previous Democratic Senator who presented actual WP news headlines about the Abe Fordas (sp?) filibuster.

Edited on Thu May-19-05 03:28 PM by CottonBear
He is lying. Damn. He's spouting crap about being sent tot he Senate by the people of NC to do what they want him to do. Up and down vote, up and down vote, up and down vote... Blah, blah, blah.

"The nominees deserve finality in this matter."

After Kerry and Byrd, this dude looks and sounds like a total idiot.

:grr:

11. Apology accepted. I'm an NC native living in GA.
Edited on Thu May-19-05 03:27 PM by CottonBear
I'll apologize for Saxby "smear a war hero" Chambliss and Johnny "REAL ID ammendment" Isakson.

He just finished "speaking." No wonder the stupid, NASCAR loving, Baptist church goin', RW sheeple eat this crap up. He sounds like a (bad) preacher that you'd hear on local Sunday morning TV broadcasts.

10. words cannot describe
how much I despise that lame assed, smirky, white-boy

Here in Winston-Salem, I can't go out without seeing those little white oval stickers on cars that say BURR. Everybody has them.

I hate living here sometimes.

14. My condolences.
I have to put up with Chambliss and Isakson here in GA, both major league assholes.

Oh, John Edwards, we miss you!

12. Where's My Up Or Down Vote?
Sen. Lautenberg showed the chart that Democrats represent a Majority of the American people. I wish I had a way to capture that chart...cause that would show this party hack what this debate is all about.

According to Lautenberg's chart, there are over 145,000,000 of us whose voices are about to be shut down and many of us who haven't had a real voice in either legislature in 10 years or longer. Where's our up or down vote on this?

As others have said, if the Repugnicans want to shut down any debate, they need to win 6 more Senate seats and then they can ram whatever Dobson agenda they want. By that time, I'll be looking at my options as this country will be on the sure road to complete ruin.

Hopefully we'll get more Repugnicans like this goon shooting their mouth and ignorance off...they're providing lots of great sound bites for upcoming campaigns. Keep talking!!!

17. ME!!!
He's a total jerkoff. He ran a terrible smear campaign, and the ads made me sick. He DOES NOT and WILL NEVER represent me in Washington or anywhere else. My husband called him Smirky Smirkboy whenever the repulsive ads came on and whenever he sees Burr on news reports.

Reminds me of the bumper sticker I had a while back: "I'm from North Carolina and I DON'T support Jesse Helms." (Actually, I'm a GA native transplanted to NC, but you get the point...)

18. I fled NC long ago.
But it grows wingnut morons even better than it grows tobacco and fundamentalist preachers.

I swore I would never return until Jesse Helms was dead and a wooden stake driven through his heart to protect future generations.

What many do not realize, is that for many years, Jesse Helms channel 5 was the only broadcast station available to much of the state. Every day he personally delivered an editorial from his own dark fantasy world at 12:30 and 5:30 pm. He also controlled the news. We were told MLK was a dangerous criminal and that the Vietnam War was defending us from the yellow horde.

Many people in NC could not defend themselves from this early version of the "War on Brains" being conditioned by several generations of ministers justifying segregation and joys of knowing ones place...

A bit of reading of the history of Christian identity and Dominionist theology will lead you to the inescapable conclusion that there is a terrible neofascist streak that runs through NC using the southern churches as a conduit.

My own ancestors included rednecks so dumb they were exiled to Arkansas for getting in a fight at a lynching and pulling off there hoods and calling the county sheriff by name.

It ain't pretty but there it is.

20. My husband remembers...
those horrible Channel 5 diatribes. He was in junior high and high school then, but they were unforgettable. Fortunately, my husband grew up in a 100% Democrat activist family, and his dad would yell at Jesse and throw things at the tv. Hubby still calls Jesse "Mushmouth."

Yeah, for some unknown reason, NC attracts all kinds of neofascist nutcases. I've lived here for the larger part of my life (grew up in Atlanta and liked it MUCH better), but I'm looking to get out.
