I just called the police Re: Glen Beck threat
and was told that they "had other things to do, why not contact the FCC?"

The D.A. in Montgomery County was not interested at all, they suggested calling the police.

Ol' glen is gonna get away with it, as no one in law enforcement seems to care that he threatened another person with death.

Sheesh, what a great country.:eyes:

<SNIP>

Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck said he was "thinking about killing Michael Moore" and pondered whether "I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it," before concluding: "No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"

From the May 17 broadcast of The Glenn Beck Program:

BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.

Beck's program is syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks (owned by radio conglomerate Clear Channel Communications) on more than 160 radio stations across the country to an estimated audience of 6 million listeners. He has previously falsely accused Moore of "taking help and money from Hezbollah" and called Michael Berg, who criticized the Bush administration after his son Nick was beheaded in Iraq, "despicable" and "a scumbag."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So... I wonder if this Ass Hat will have to apologize?? I wonder if the'll demand for his resignation on Fox News??
11. Our Local Law Enforcement Very Similar
When reporting harassment by a confessed murderer's family, our Cpl. Dave Reagan responded with "No one here is concerned. Please stop emailing us". They also ignored reports of inmate abuse/neglect in the Spokane County Jail, and an inmate was murdered a few months later.
But the same LE is more than willing to destroy reports of Sheriff Dave Hahn molesting boy scouts in the 70's.... Seattle's former Mayor Paul Schell ordered an investigation for corruption in the Seattle Police Dept., then turned those "confidential" files OVER TO the police, only to have them returned with much missing.
Our country needs a complete overhaul of LE, Politicians, and Government Agencies, which are all RIFE with corruption.
Or rather; quoted the GB mediamatter story in the environment where I usually hang out.
This GB-thing is like saying "Would some loony goof with a gun please kill Michael Moore for me?".
His show should have been taken off the air immediately.
17. Threatening to kill someone isn't actually a crime. Otherwise millions of
wife beaters and spousal batterers would be in jail.
Moore is the only person who could conceivably attempt to file charges against the nutcase, and until an actual crime has been committed, there is little anyone can do other than make/take a police report.
Words aren't crimes unless you're threatening the president.
25. Partially Correct
Simple assault only requires a threat of violence. I'm not sure about Moore being the only one who can bring charges though. I know that the DA can bring the; although for simple assault they rarely do.
30. Right, as far as the DA, extreme circumstances would have to apply, as in
the threat being deemed genuine and real; in the case of a nutjob hate radio freak, the potential -- the REAL and true potential for him to actually carry through on his threat is virtually non-existent.
Freedom of speech is still protected here, in the USA, just as our thoughts cannot be construed as crimes. An actionable event must take place otherwise it gets tossed and it a waste of time.
But hey, it's GREAT publicity for MOORE!
32. The potential refers to the ability of someone to carry out
the threat; someone 92 years old and in a wheelchair threatening a pro wrestler probably doesn't have the potential.
Freedom of speech doesn't cover threats of death, which is assault, which is a crime.
To say a public person has no "potential" because they're a "nutjob hate radio freak" is a contradiction, lol.
Public people have committed crimes and will do so in future; verbal threats are illegal for everyone, AFAIK.
29. Not thoughts, sorry. Speech
If this guy just thought about something, we wouldn't have read about it nor would we be discussing it right now, would we?
Better yet, ask a Rwandan whether or not threatening speech over the radio is a good idea. If this moron spent about 2 days in jail, I'm pretty sure he'd keep his violent thoughts to himself in the future.
35. Look at how he worded it...
As if he's sharing his thoughts and feelings with his listeners. Nowhere is there a DIRECT threat against Moore. He's really close to the line, but my guess is it would go nowhere legally regardless of who made the threat or who it was against. IMO, calling the cops is a waste of time.
I don't know this guy from Adam. Am I missing something or did he make a back door slam against WWJD???
36. Don't call the Police; they're not the authority. Call the DA.
The DA must file charges if a crime has been committed, and in this case it clearly has been. We live in a country that is goverened by law, many of which clearly say that you don't get to threaten people's lives.
38. It probably should be filed.
Although if it is filed with the DA as a reported threat, the mainstream media will be all over this one labotomizing Michael Moore.
Most likely, Michael will become embroiled in this parasite and the whole thing will go to court on the charges of simple libel slander and/or threats and hate speech between both of them.
This has the potential for a legal case. And it will make a lovely display for the CNN Runaway Bride lovers! :eyes:
Beck is a Limbaugh wannabe. And just like Rush, Beck is a dope-head and a drunk. Oops, I mean Beck is a recovering dope-head and drunk, or so he says.
Anyway, I think that Michael Moore should do his next film on the right wing media, like Fox, Limbaugh and Mr. Beck. Could you imagine Michael Moore interviewing Beck and asking Beck why he wanted to kill him. That would be a hoot.
