from the moderate democrat

maybe. maybe a conservative i dont know. i live conservative, am i a conservative.

i actually think business have a place in society. we should be rootin for them to succeed, after all they pay wages and health care.

i am ready to get down to work on this board. i see such opportunity for voice here, i have seen in the last year with a group effort, the politicians have heard us. and once they hear, they appreciate, they get a little jolt of cool. but it is really hard for them to hear us. du has found a lot of creative ways of being heard. and often we have been able to do it in support, which is a healthy way for politicians to hear.

but i am getting a bit pissed. like for example having a thread about poor kids. because this woman wants to raise her kids a particualr way, and from the information, in love. we ridicule her. we say poor kids. i did not read a single bit of poor kids in that post. i can give a handful of examples of good and connected parenting skills, from both the mother and children.

there are a lot of people on this board, that are more busy deciding who i am and need to be, wasting a lot fo energy that could go somewhere else.

abortion (choice)
homosexuality (free will)
religion (choice)
birth control (choice)
guns (choice)
seatbelts (choice)
drugs (choice. doesnt mean need them legal)
if i smoke and have children........

lets just take this one. smoking. i have listened to adults tell me i dont love my kids. i shouldnt have my kids.

the audacity

and if..........
you cant see the outrage in that, my suggestion (you go fuck yourself, lol what i really feel but looking for a diplomatic way of saying it). well, you are wrong. surely it should matter, being wrong. it isnt opinion, it isnt telling yourself a story to be able to say that with a straight face.

yet

there seems to be an intense need to beat it into me, buy into your lie, that i dont love my kids because i smoke. that i should feel such shame, that i will quit smoking for ........you; satisfaction of winning.

this is what the poster speaks of when talking the pendulumn, back and forth. the democrats say, but we are protecting my health (smokescreen) and not killing thousands in war. then there is the suggestion, i embrace the thousands of death in iraq, but oppose saving the life of my child. i am sick, sick i tell you

this is telling a lie, and telling me i have to buy into that lie

the same, very same that the republicans are doing.

smoking is the easiest issue to go to because it is so blatant. but it premeates thru out liberal. if everyone who live differently are telling you this is how they feel about democrats, listen. (and i say the same to repugs) maybe we may learn something, maybe we may be able to work together.

now, i will tell you why i am right. if you can love the smoking me, if i can love the smoking me, we can heal the smoking me. if that poor child, abused child into adult, can love the abused child, if i can, then we can heal that child. if the religion culted or conditioned me can love that me, we as a society can heal that me. and that is what we really need today. to heal that religious me. look at all in pain, begging for god to help, the more they pray demand want, the less they feel. but they just know if they beg hard enough.

so that is just a second of the moderate democrat, or moderate repug, cause i can be a switch hitter.

I'm a moderate, progressive Democrat, at least thats what I classify myself as.

The key factor is that I am economically conservative and I believe that businesses should be urged to succeed. However, in todays world, its all about self-interest and the top 1%. As a true economic conservative, I believe that companies should be able to make a profit and yes, some will be paid higher than others, BUT I don't believe that we should do this at the expense of the individual right to the pursuit of happiness. We have to be responsible to our fellow man and pay a livable wage. CEO's deserve a high compensation, but without the worker, they wouldn't be able to get a product or service to market. We need to pay our workers well and end rampant outsourcing. We need to end rampant government spending and get our deficits in check. We need to end class warfare. We need to keep the United States marching forward in the world instead of distancing ourselves and imposing a secular view upon our population that puts us on the verge of facism and pseudo-theocratic rule.

I'm progressive because I believe in the individual freedoms and choices that we all are able to make. I don't want the government telling me what I can and can't do (to an extent). I believe the government is gaining too much power and is running out of control. We have a duty to the WORLD, not just in our own country. WE DO NOT RUN EVERYTHING and there will be differences with other countries. We must make logical and sound choices when dealing with an issue that result in military conflict. I believe in an individual right to choose (abortion, tobacco, birth control). I believe that we have a responsibility to our environment and there is a way to do it without sacrificing profit. I believe in the fundamental rights of a man and woman to be married just the same as two committed homosexuals who wish the same. I believe in the right to worship as you choose and to live your life as you choose, but the moment you cross into the public spectrum or start telling others this is how they should live their life, then I will instantly oppose them.

At any rate, there is plenty of room here in the Democratic Party. I truly believe we are the party of inclusion and free-will. My opinions might differ from others on some issues, but in the end, we are are all on the same team and fighting for the same, basic principles.
