Star Wars III: My take - Palpatine is George HW Bush (spoilage)
Edited on Thu May-19-05 02:40 AM by Must_B_Free
The character Palpatine was George HW Bush to me. He was "an elder statesman who had been around too long..." He was pulling al the strings deceiving people and keeping the war going.

All of the evil was orchestrated by means of deception; in other wortds, the only bad guy was the deceiver; everyone else was doing what they were led to believe was right.

In retrospective, the Jedi were representatice of diversity like the UN and Mace Windu is kind of like Kofi Annan.

Also a good quote in a conversation between Anakin and Padme that boils down to "What if our Democracy is being misused - what if we aren't on the side of good anymore"? This quote was a very blatant allusion to today's situation.

The "This is how liberty dies" quote was quote and would have escaped me if it hadn't been built up so much.

good flick. loved yoda's stern look.

1. See "Example #3" in the opening post in this thread - even the NYT
reviewer of Star Wars III sees the parallels with the Bush Administration:

Thread title: “Funny but important - Ridicule/criticism of Bush Admin in MOVIES and TV”

And if you saw Hitchhiker's Guide To the Universe, see what you think of "Example #2."
