If these people spent a tenth of this energy on feeding the hungry and helping the downtrodden, what a world this could be...

PRESS RELEASE
To: National Desk

Contact: Rev. Rob Schenck, president of the National Clergy Council, 202-546-8329 ext. 106, 703-447-7686 cell; Rev. Patrick Mahoney director of the Christian Defense Coalition, 202-547-1735, 540-538-4741 cell

WASHINGTON, May 18 /Christian Wire Service/ -- The National Clergy Council and the Christian Defense Coalition, which organized rallies and prayer vigils in support of Chief Justice Roy Moore and Terri Schiavo, will hold a news conference on Friday, May 20, at 10:00 A.M. in front of the United States Supreme Court to discuss their efforts.

Press Conference Details---

When: Friday, May 20, at 10:00 A.M.

Where: In front of the United States Supreme Court

Who: The National Clergy Council and the Christian Defense Coalition

Why: Rev. Rob Schenk, President of the National Clergy Council, states, “We are enlisting hundreds of thousands of church leaders and members to pray that pro-abortion, anti-values forces will not be able to hold the federal courts--and especially the Supreme Court--hostage to their extremist views through pressing Senators to continue the misuse of the filibuster rule. Now is the time to end the abuse of this rule for the sake of the country.”

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, “The eyes of the faith community have finally been opened to the grave danger of judicial activism. We now understand it was activist courts who ushered in abortion and ordered the removal of prayer from the public schools. It was activist judges who ordered the removal of Terri Schiavo’s feeding tube and demanded that ‘One Nation Under God’ be taken out of the Pledge of Allegiance. And, it is activist courts that are attempting to redefine marriage and family.

"We want to make it clear that we will not go silently into the night on this issue and we will now speak up with a loud and passionate voice within the public square. This filibuster battle is only the first step in reigning in an out of control judiciary and bringing moral sanity back to our courts.”

Groups also plan to hold prayer vigils outside of the Capitol if a vote is scheduled to overturn the filibuster rule for judicial nominees.

2. What these idiots fail to realize is that this isn't about abortion.
The GOP has no intention of ever attempting to end that.

Priscilla Owen is one of the most rabidly pro-corporate judges in American history. Anyone attempting to sue any corporation on her watch would be totally hosed.

3. that's worth remembering
I wonder at what level of the Republican hierarchy do people understand that it's all about widening corporate power and not about abortion nd gays.

4. I wonder what they will be thinking when they get to 2008
and they are still empty handed on abortion, flag burning and gay amendment? Who are they going to blame for it while they own the entire government.

5. Abortion and gays gets the kool-aide drinkers with a third grade
education fired up. The guys that order their foaming-at-the-mouth brown shirts are so rich, they don't care about the rest of us.

How Christian.

7. I'm confused.
I thought the rulings in the Terri Schiavo case were that it was permissible to remove the feeding tube because of wishes expressed by Terri prior to her illness. They make it sound like some mean ol' activist judge came of the woodwork and demanded the feeding tube removed.

I guess they have no idea that this will come back to bite them in the ass one day.
