A question about the "nuclear option"....

Let's say the a$$holes manage to pass their nuclear option. What's to stop a Dem, any Dem, from doing it the old fashioned way by taking the floor and talking until they can't stand anymore? Would they simply be physically removed from the Senate Floor for a rules violation? If they were wouldn't that speak volumes to the American public about the loss of checks and balances and the damage done to our so-called democratic republic?
