Anyone else sense a shifting of the tide?
Edited on Wed May-18-05 12:49 PM by dogday
For so long now it seems like all we could do is take it and then suddenly yesterday after Galloway's speech, I have seen many acts of Democratic Defiance and I like it. Let us keep it up and continue till we take back the America we know and love....

1. I do, and it's because no one is buying the White House version
of the Newsweek story. No one seriously believes that a small article in Newsweek set off a riot, and I think Scott McLellan looks really disingenuous. The filibuster thing is backfiring somewhat, too.

16. Sadly there are people who are buying it.
I saw a LTTE posted at DU today written by someone who bought the baloney and wanted to hold Newsweek personally responsible for the rioting deaths.

I too think (hope, pray) the tide is turning, but you can't say "no one" is buying it. I'll bet you a new keyboard my aunts and uncles are buying it hook, line and sinker shaped like a cross.

And if I didn't I wouldn't say I did. I wouldn't want to jinx it. ;)

3. I think some of our elected dems have awakened to reality
Edited on Wed May-18-05 12:46 PM by TornadoTN
They saw what we were saying about Galloway and they saw the centrist sentiment that Galloway had the "balls" to point out the facts.

I have been very impressed today with our elected dems on the Senate floor. Its almost like they all decided it was time to stand up and stand up forcefully. Now, we will wait to see the end result.

4. They've tried "going along to get along" and it didn't work.
Repeatedly. They understand they're up against bullies and bullies understand one thing ONLY: forceful opposition.

5. No, just widening anger
The right wingers are angry; and getting more angry by the moment.

We are reaching a boiling point, but there's no shift to the left.

Something very big is on the way, but history will not look kindly on what happens next.

6. And I hope they remember where it came from and who
all were involved in this theft of Freedom of Speech for the Senate. George Bush, Dick Cheney, Bill Frist,,, the three stooges.....

8. The feeling I've had all week is like a merry-go-round that's
speeding up and out of control. A feeling that something very crazy is about to happen (I mean even crazier than what we've seen the last couple of years).

10. Me too, lulu
You can feel it in the air; so thick you could cut it.

I'm not sure what the trigger will be, but it's coming. I have a feeling it will be the nuclear option next week. The freeps are gonna blow when they lose on Bolton and/or the judges.

I'm ready - bring it on.

9. A shifting tide is nice, but unless the tide envelopes Diebold and
ES&S, it's not gonna make a bit of difference.

:)

That aside, you might want to get your facts straight about the people you call Eeyore in a cutsie attempt to make a statement that somehow "They're" helping Bush...as you did in your OP thread with the brainiac notion to refer to people who don't think as you do as Eeyore.

I didn't vote yes for war. I didn't vote yes to the Patriot Act. I didn't put Gonzales into the AG slot. Among other things I didn't vote yes for...that actually did support and enable Bush.

Cheers! :)

14. I have a table once a week and live in MS and if people are waking up
here at the 7th most conservative campus in the country then things are getting better. Republicans are getting pissed, gas prices, iraq, Bush's lies, the media. I am loaning my copy of Fahrenheit 9/11 to 2 diffent repubs that formerly refused to watch the "propaganda." My republican father in law now calls himself a libertarian, and also half of the frat repubs that come up to my table.

I mean for folks here to get off their asses and start talking to people. People do care if they know the truth.

And they ARE helping Bush by spreading the fucked up meme that people are stupid, nobody knows anything, Americans don't care, etc, etc, etc.

Give me a break! I take offense at your cutsie attempt to chide me for being honest.

15. But you weren't being honest when you called me Eeyore
You were calling me cutesy names. I pointed that out and returned the favor. If you can't take it, don't dish it out.

As for republicans turning on Bush, yes they are..you're 100% correct in that...I see it all the time. I'm just not convinced that that is enough.

But that still doesn't mean you get to blame Bush on those you refer to as Eeyores...as you DID do in your OP thread.

So if you're accusing me of helping Bush by calling me Eeyore, as was your premise in your OP thread, then I really don't care what you take offense to...

20. I apologize for personally calling you an Eeyore cuz I don't know you
or any work you have done on our behalf. But nobody ever got anywhere by proclaiming that things are a lost cause.

It takes time for attitudes to change, it takes time for the truth to leak out. People ARE waking up, but maybe not for the reasons that we would like. They are waking up because their wallets are shrinking, while the price for just about everything is going up. They are waking up because they are getting poorer while those that sell oil are announcing record breaking profits. Sending $3+ on a gallon of gas when you have no money for lunch makes a movie like F 9/11 where all of the oil connections are explained seem much more interesting to those who recently refused to see it.

Why echo the corporate media and promote Bush's agenda by saying "things will never get better" if you don't have to?

If you are pessimistic and working your ass off then maybe you'll get a get out of jail free card with me, if not then put up or shut up.

23. Yeah..well the day I come looking for a "get out of jail free" card
because someone doesn't like the way I think will be the day Bush is seen as a savant. Which ain't going to happen. Ever.

I freely admit that I'm arrogant...but not so arrogant as to think I get to set the standards by which others are judged or that my approval (or disapproval) of them holds any worth to the object of my approval(or disapproval). In fact, I find it rather presumptuous that anyone would think that their approval or disapproval matters to anyone.

I don't ask anyones permission for anything. Nor do I justify myself to anyone. And I for damn sure don't live by anyone else's standards but my own.

PS I love Eeyore.

24. blaming Bush on those the OP refers to as 'Eeyores' is so silly
not recognizing the actual reality is the most dangerous path anyone can take.

also, why does the OP think republicans are waking up? because all the SHIT the 'Eeyores' are pointing out.

that kind of immature thinking reminds me of the Nader Haters ;->

peace

25. Which is why I stayed out of the original thread about 'Eeyores'
Edited on Wed May-18-05 05:28 PM by Solly Mack
but then I by-pass that thread and go about my own business and wham!...get called an Eeyore in a completely different thread.

of which I took issue with...well, not with Eeyore so much..as he's a cutie...but with the definition attached to Eeyore. I don't suppose it merits pointing out that Eeyore IS a donkey? ;)

I got so tired of the Nader debates back in 2001 and 2002. I blame the Bush Cabal for Selection 2000. That's who I blame.

I need an Eeyore avatar. I really do.

17. Yes, but I felt that way in October, too
and look what that led to - horrible disillusionment.

I will hope, but I will not stake all my emotional capital on that hope anymore. November 3rd was very, very hard for me. I was emotionally unprepared for it. I truly thought the tide had turned then.
