DU this poll: Should the United States pursue a space weapons program?
http://www.cnn.com (Poll is down on the lower right hand side.)

Currently "YES" is far too high with 45%...smack 'em down, DU!!!

But I'm conflicted about it. On one hand I believe that space weapons would help protect Americans from having to go be shipped away to wars like the one in Iraq. On the other hand, placing such devastating power into anyone's hands is dangerous to the rest of the world, which would inevitably lead to social unrest. I'll stick to the latter line of reasoning.

15. The absurdity to this is...
even generals are saying that the US couldn't fend off an attack by Cuba at this point, and we think we are able to "conquor" space? I think not.

Still 45% yes, 55% no.

Of course it's on a page with a puff piece about Revenge of the Sith. The whole premise of the movie is that space will be militarized, and it's only a question of whether the good guys will be more attuned to the Force than the bad guys.

And most of America still thinks we're the good guys.
