What to do as oil peaks out
Coming to a news stand near you soon..

What to do as oil peaks out A geologist as amiable guide

"Hubbert's Peak," the point on the graph that marks the apex of world oil production, has dropped below its zenith. And, for Americans dependent on their economy's lifeblood, the news goes against the grain of our optimistic belief in the eternal

More informatively, he predicts that 2019 production will be down to 90 percent of the peak level and gives a thumbs up to "renewable," "sustainable," and organic or natural alternatives along with, say, locally grown produce for fewer airplane flights, shorter trips, and low-mileage vehicles.

1. I've been telling a relative studying engineering
that chem engineering - and then working to create an alternative to petrol. based plastics - would make for a secure future.

2. Too bad nobody started this THIRTY YEARS AGO...
I remember gas lines, odd/even days, and gas hitting (gasp) a DOLLAR A GALLON. Everyone eventually switched to imports and compacts, gas held briefly steady, and all was well again.

Now we are living in the future that we should have been preparing for all this time. After all, there are only so many dead dinosaurs* down there to suck up.

*I know it's really prehistoric jungles and stuff, but it was an expression I used to use to describing the eventual bottom of the petrochemical bucket.

3. Those lines wil come back to haunt us
If you enjoyed the long lines of the 1970's, just wait a couple of years.. I believe they will be back with a vengence.

To bad most of us are stuck in today and cannot see what the future holds for oil..
