"So where's all the freedom?"
Any Merle Haggard fans here? Looks like this is might be the name for the country star's next album. He was on studio 360 last weekend talking about it. The title (So where's all the freedom?) is an allusion to the rhetoric of the Bush admin. Where's all the freedom we keep hearing about? When are we gonna get our rights back? When is the Patriot Act going to be repealed?

I am thinking of buying his album, mostly out of curiosity, and was wondering what people thought of his music. I have never been much of a country fan but I do like Jazz, especially Louis Armstrong and the other great old-timers.

I also found this interesting editorial on his website:

<snip>

"Those who have the gumption to investigate, know that the reputation of honesty between the government and the people cannot reflect the reason for a single man to have confidence in what we're doing in current day conditions. I'm suspicious, I'm paranoid, and I'm afraid. And the person who says he isn't has not looked up or around lately.

I don't even know the Dixie chicks, but I find it an insult for all the men and women who fought and died in past wars when almost the majority of America jumped down their throats for voicing an opinion. It was like a verbal witch-hunt and lynching. Whether I agree with their comments or not has no bearing.
