God I love Bill Moyers!
And we need him now more than EVER....

I'm appalled by the way the Corp for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has treated him... just criticized him, wouldn't agree to meet with him (Ken Tomlinson), turned him down 3 times when he tried to talk to them. They spent $10,000 of view contributions to watch the show and keep score as to who Moyers had as guests on NOW...

Some quotes

"I always knew Richard Nixon would be back.... I just didn't know he'd be back as the head of the CPB"

"Where I come from in Texas, we shovel that kind of stuff every day"

"While she was still working for Karl Rove, she (can't remember her name) came in and set up 2 ombudsmen for the CPB. Two ombudsmen??? For a political organization??? Local stations need ombudsmen, but why does a political organization need ombudsmen??"

Common Cause & Consumer's Union are starting a campaign to take back Public Broadcasting.

Full of tears tonight...

2. Bill Moyers Rocks
I will take the widow's mite over a bigger contribution--paraphrased.

He spoke at my graduation (master's) some time ago. My parents attended and thought he rocked then. He still does.

3. I'm sad that I didn't know the details on why he left until too late!
I just listened to his speech on C-SPAN and "googled" Kenneth Tomlinson. At least now I understand why PBS and NPR appear to be more biased now. They are getting pressured just like the rest of the MSM.

4. I don't know if he's spoken publicly about it until now
He certainly never brought it up on Now and usually, if he's given a speech or interview and there's a transcript to video, the information finds its way here.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the first time he's talked about it to a public forum.

7. Bill Moyers had announced some time ago
that he would be leaving when he was 70. That happened in June of 2004. He is one month younger than I. I love this guy. He is the best, and has never compromised his integrity. There are very few people on this planet that have gained my respect, but he is at the top of the list. I hope he outlives me.
