For those of you working away at countering the spin I respect that, but I would like to remind you of what we were doing before all this.
-The Downing Street Memo had just hit the MSM, thanks in large part to DU'ers not giving up on it! :toast:
-Jon Bolton is coming up for a vote this week.
-Bill "the cat surgeon" Frist is going to enact the nuclear option this week. That will determine the makeup of the courts for the next 40+ years!
-We also had Tom Delay on the run from his unethical behavior. It seems clear to me that they are just throwing up cover for all their other slimey little schemes with this non-story. If you must comment on it to the corporate hacks, fine, but don't spend too much energy on it. And please, don't let them change your focus from what's really important.
Some short and sweet talking points on Newsweek-gate:
The BBC, The Washington Post, The Center for Constitution Rights and many other sources have verified that just the kind of abuse that Newsweek reported on did in fact happen multiple times. They reported on this, in some instances years before the Newsweek story ever broke. Given this history, it's very hypocritical of the free press to take part in this scapegoating of Newsweek.
