Saudis lobby to limit chemical liability
WASHINGTON A company largely owned by the Saudi government has spent more than $1.5 million since 1998 lobbying Congress to shield the chemical industry from liability for damages caused by MTBE, a potentially cancer-causing gasoline additive that has seeped into water supplies across New England, according to federal documents.

The chemical additive is widely used, particularly in the Northeast, to help gasoline burn more efficiently and meet standards set by the Clean Air Act. But when it gets into drinking water, MTBE is suspected of causing cancer, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

2. You're absolutely right. I recently I have become involved with
different groups that deal with the over reaching power and control corporations have over We The People. You name the evil and I'm sure that a corporation is the root cause.

These are some great books that really illuminate what is going on:
Unequal Protection, by Thom Hartmann
Corporateering, by Jaime Court

After I read them I was determined to do something about it. I think I have found the answer. It's clean money elections. Imagine
elected officials that have not received a single cent from a corporation, and a politician that does not have to raise money. They would be able to concentrate on We The People.

Here is a great website that is in California, but they explain how it works in Arizona, Maine, and Vermont.

This is where I am going to direct my energy to try to bring back democracy. This weekend and I am a free screening of "The Corporation" at my public library, and afterward I am going to introduce the guests to this concept.
