Folks, the BFEE just found the ULTIMATE SCAPEGOAT for a draft
Yep, Newsweek will be that scapegoat. Observe, if you will, the scenario:

Violence in Afghanistan escalates, spilling over into Pakistan, over the Koran report. Nobody in the Me buys into the retraction, forcing the U.S. to extend tours and increase troop levels. Further escalations of violence in Iraq are blamed on the same thing and troop levels must be increased there, too.

Where do we get those troops?

Sorry, but since Newsweek couldn't watch what it wrote, we have to now draft our young people into the Army to stabilize things.

Two birds. One stone. Case closed.

1. Look for undesirables like people in prison & gang members to

be drafted first. Look for a two tiered army. The elite groups with all the training, then the poor farm boy troops that have to deal with the bombs, the press-ganged former inmates & all crap. My guess is that the 'fundie Christians' will be made the educated leaders of the mass troops.

Or maybe I am just in denial about the draft.

IMHO

7. Maybe...
but I think the Uzbek situation is more volatile than this Afghan situation. This is an incident, while the Uzbek situation is self-sustaining (while Islam Karimov remains in power).

Just my 2 bits.

12. Yeah, but the Uzbek dictator is Shrubbo's friend
And this excuse is there for them to use.

Let's them build up forces before the next war, too.

Rove is not a genius, but he's damned lucky. This scapegoat just fell into his lap, and can be used whenever he chooses.

8. There is a draft coming one way or the other.
The goal of the neo-cons, I believe, is to build the biggest war machine known with the most modern weapons and the biggest military ever. We may all become part of this military down the road. It's the way they will rule the world, with fear. Yes, there will be other countries, but their puppets will be installed in their governments. Those governments like the European union, whose regimes can't be toppled as easily as third world countries, will be kept quiet by the threat of this military.

We have to stop them now.

over the Koran report.

That would require the intelligence and facts to be fixed around the policy.
