We need to resurrect the "flying fickle finger of fate" award
Edited on Mon May-16-05 01:13 PM by paineinthearse

If you are old enough, you know what I mean. For the younger set, Dan Rowan and Dick Martin hosted a very irreverent and highly humorous variety show in the late 60's-early 70's called "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In". Members of the original cast included Goldie Hawn, Ruth Buzzie, Sammy Davis, Jr., Alan Sues, Henry Gibson, Lily Tomlin, Flip Wilson, Richard Dawson, Gary Owens....(forgive me for not remembering others). Even Nixon made a "sock it to me?" appearance.

Frequently, Dick and Dan would bestow the "flying fickle finger of fate" award on some deserving idiot politician, bureaucrat, or erstwhile dunderhead. DU's "conservative idiot of the week" post follows in this hallowed tradition.

I wish the Daily Show or Air America would get permission to resurrect the award, or start something similar.

edited typos.

13. Ah, yes... the Digit of Destiny...
No way anything as edgy as Laugh-In could be on Network TV these days. They were always getting jumped about political content... and that was when the US was a free country! (Yes, I realize I'm saying the country was free under Nixon.... comparitively, it was.)

Daily Show maybe....

14. The Daily Show should resurrect the award and call it
The Douche-bag of Liberty award.
