here on DU reminds me of why I became a sustaining contributor, and how important this community impacts my life. I am not a frequent poster, but I spend hours here daily and pretty much read posts in all the forums. I am usually sitting in my lounge chair with a laptop and I can just look up to watch whatever I can tolerate on the big screen. The remote is never out of reach, and is used constantly to sift through all the corporate crap in a relentless pursuit to find some truth and honesty in any programming.

I have totally given up on all network and cable news and I am now even tuning out local news channels, AND I live in liberal Vermont!
On the other hand, the frequent clicking of the remote has brought me Amy Goodman (Democracy Now)on FSTV, and World Link TV as well as the BBC. I watch these channels daily, and as I said, at the same time I am reading all the news I will never see on MSM right here on DU. Can you imagine the impact DU would have if it was a TV channel, and someone like Amy or our own Will Pitt were an anchor just reading posts from our community, and reporting on news events as we see and understand them. The DU Channel..an oasis for real news gathering and analysis, without the corporate interdiction and spin!

In any event, my life has been greatly influenced by being a member of DU, and without it would be equivalent to losing a beloved friend.
I hope that this current drive exceeds expectations, and I will help again by giving some member a gold star that cannot afford it, at this time, but feels as I do about this community.

Someday DU will be in the lineup on FSTV, somehow..someway..and the world will watch and know that we WILL take back this Democracy, and reclaim the United States of America from the Corporate pirates, and the MSM, holding it hostage.

I thought I was going to go crazy until I found DU -- it's truly been a lifesaver for me to find like minded people, intelligent people, people who've restored my sense of balance and fairness.

My cafepress shop has earned $14 so far this month, and half of what I make in May will go to DU , and half to Andy S. If I don't make more than $14, I'll throw in some of my own cash. It's worth it to me.
