"Inside the Wire" by Erik Saar-- inteview with this Gitmo whistleblower

Heard it today on the BBC WS show, Outlook. It's about 15 minutes long, from near the start of the hour to about 20 min. into it. He talks about the use of sex to separate the detainees from their faith and lots of other things.

Interpreting at Guantanamo U.S. interpreter Erik Saar volunteered to go to Guantanamo Bay to help detainees, who spoke only Arabic, to communicate with medical and prison staff, but he soon got involved in translating at interrogation sessions. His recently published book "Inside the Wire" alleges that the techniques used during these sessions did not comply with international guidelines on the treatment of prisoners.

1. This Book is a Good Read

I read it last week in a B&N store.

It confirms much of what we have read and heard about Gitmo. And if any of the koolaid drinkers you know tries to paint this guy as a liberal - tell them he admits in the book to being a Bush/Cheney voter in 2000 who proudly displayed a Bush/Cheney sign on his door.
