Hmmmm... Stern or Air America?
Easy answer for me... Howard Stern... At least I can still stream AA once it moves over to XM.

1. Here is my problem with XM
Looking at the schedule they give for Air America it is the following:

5AM-6AM ET Rachel Maddow Dr. Rachel Maddow
6AM-9AM ET Morning Sedition Marc Maron, Mark Riley, Wayne Gilman
9AM-Noon ET The Jerry Springer Show Jerry Springer
Noon - 3PM ET The Al Franken Show Al Franken, Katherine Lanpher
3PM-5PM ET The Ed Schultz Show Ed Schultz
5PM-7PM ET The Randi Rhodes Show Randi Rhodes
7PM-10PM ET The Majority Report Janeane Garofalo, Sam Seder
10PM-1AM ET The Alan Colmes Show Alan Colmes
1AM-5AM ET Mike Malloy Mike Malloy

If they are spliting the prgramming up, and cutting Randi Rhodes, and moving Mike Malloy to the graveyard shift in place of alan colmes, forget it. I will keep Sirius, and hope they put good progressive talk in liu of AAR, if they let it go

3. I prefer
two left channels to one, so I get a little choice.. like if I don't like one show I can flip to the other.

i.e. I don't like Majority report, so I listen to Young Turks

12. And for some of us *three* choices...

If a local AM station is carrying Air America feeds like Franken.

I'm really hoping that Sirius wises up and restores Thom Hartmann's show for the full three hours in the morning as a part of building a new lineup for the older AAR channel. I'll probably choose him over Franken then in most cases. And I'll continue to get Stephanie Miller *NOW* and not have to wait until XM finds another channel or steals other show's time to fit her in on one channel (if they put her on at all).

Young Turks are always a good alternative too when they come on on Sunday nights after Laura Flanders ends...

It's still Sirius for me...

The biggest things I'll miss will be Randi Rhodes over lunch and Mike Malloy on the drive home. But sounds like XM has no immediate plans for that either. So either way AAR's screwing me there. As far as listening too Alan Colmes in the evenings at Malloy's time slot, I'd prefer listening to Libertarian Gene Burns off of KGO on the AM dial than Colmes. At least he had far better material against the Iraq war (discussions with Karen Kwiatkowski, etc.) than Colmes did.

21. I wish
they would remove Colmes and put Malloy in his slot. I love the Young Turks. They're pretty good and Thom Hartmann. I listen to them on intunes progressive radio. ;)

4. Yeah, but keep your eyes open. I think XM will carry the full feed
once the cutover date arrives. If you notice, they have already added an extra hour of Randi from what they originally had and they have the full Mike Malloy feed on tape delay, which they didn't have before. I'm a Sirius guy myself, but I'm watching XM and how they fit AAR into their plans. If they have the full feed like I used to get with Sirius, then I just may make the jump to XM.

2. And AA is already changing and the AA you hear now
might be completely different by the end of the year. Frankin might be gone and Majority Report might be kaput. I think in a year Talk Left might be a better show. I know I listen to it more often now.

5. I read that Jeannine has a new sitcom on TV.
Part of the May sweeps when networks pitch new shows that look like the old shows they cancelled. So I wouldn't doubt that MR may end. To me Sam is good enough to carry it by himself though.

8. He's not
But he does get into it sometimes and he's become the focus point of Free Speech and the abuses and deriliction of duty by the FCC.

I love Howard and have for years... I think the show will be a hoot uncensored and I look forward to it. Like I said, at least I can still streamm AA.

24. I love Howard too
He's one of my favorite's. I used to watch his show on "E" all the time but now I listen to Malloy when the show is on. I wouldn't mind having him on there later in the evening probably. Maybe they can move Malloy where Alan Colmes is and have Howard on where Malloy is because of the content of his show.

7. I can't give up Howard
As much as I would like to hear AA I will go through withdrawal if I can't hear my daily dose of Howard's raunch.

9. Yeah but he has a really soft schedule from what I remember.
He works like three hours a day and only 3 or 4 days a week. Might not be as satisfying as you'd suspect. I admit, I'll be listening at first just because I'm so curious what he'll sound like unleashed on satellite, but I'm sure the unique-ness will fade.

I probably listen to about an hour of his show anyway... That's all I need.

17. Check out siriusbackstage.com
That's where I've heard most of my programming news for Sirius. He's def only 4 days a week. Not sure about the hours, but I think it was 3 hours each day, the rest is repeats. I guess the same way that XM does Opie and Anthony. I also heard that Stern was bringing two or three other shows with him for his station, so hopefully that happens so the channel isn't just primarily Stern re-runs.

25. Maybe
he can be on the weekends. Does he work on weekends? There's hardly anything on weekends except a few shows. The only shows I listen on the weekends is Laura Flanders, Guy James and BradBlog if there is a good lineup.

18. Don't get Stern's appeal. The show is boring and crass.
Hate his TV show too.

I don't get satellite radio, but if I did I'd get whichever has Air America.

But they have an AA station here in SF, so there's no need.

Humor is of course subjective, but crassness doesnt exclude humor for many people.

22. It amazes me how he manages to combine boring and tasteless so well.
I'm glad he doesn't like Bush, but even Jay Leno is funnier than Stern. Now that's just sad!
