2. Amazing how the right has brainwashed millions to believe ...
that they are more patriotic than the Democrats.

The republicans consider the military as a tool of empire, and consider the lives of soldiers to be expendable for corporate profits.
The republicans hold the military in contempt, as was shown with their disgusting Purple Heart bandaids.

The Nation is in dire straits if the people can be this easily manipulated.

15. Somebody needs to do 2 bumperstickers
One listing the repubs and one listing the democrats, put them both on your car, THEN put a "I support the troops" magnetic ribbon. THAT would make a statement!

11. Ah yes
I believe it was a list much like this that lead a my friends and I to a discussion of what would happen if a Senate death match ensued. We decided safe money would be on the Democrats. :silly:

BTW check out this flash video about chickenhawks from toostupidtobepresident.com. It's hilarious.

13. The discrepancy might also be partially explained by elitism on the Right
You know, only the rich kids get to go to school. The rest go to war.

There are a lot more silver spoons on the Republican side of the aisle.

17. I'm so glad you just put that up. Here's why:
My local county party is sponsoring on ongoing collection drive for our troops serving in Iraq right now (one of our member's brother is there. And I've had several friends over there come back to tell me what a hellhole it is). We put announcements in our local papers and were finally starting to get decent coverage about it. We've had some people call to get info and they all say they are Republicans and thank us for doing this. But in this past Sunday's edition, some asshat writes: "I read with interest the story about the troop support drive. I'm glad to see the Democrats are finally getting on board with supporting our troops overseas in harm's way. The only thing I thought Democrats could do was make anti-American picket signs and protest our military."

Ok, fuckers like this make me mad. Especially since I'm basically running the Dem show in my town now and we're beginning to make some good headway.

So, using your info I fire off a pretty good letter that I think stands a good chance of getting published because the editor always publishes my stuff:

Why do you crazy people think all Democrats hate America and all we can do is make "anti-American" protest signs. You are so far from the truth that it's kind of sad. But I thought I'd take this opportunity to educate you on how much we Dems "hate America" and how much you Republicans love it:

<the list>

And every single one of the members of the Newton County Democrats either has family currently serving now or knows someone serving in Iraq or Afghanistan - just ask our chairman, the Vietnam Veteran.
We don't make anti-American protest signs, we make anti-Bush signs. If you can't tell the difference, I feel very sorry for you.
We love our country. We love our troops. We absolutely hate that they are dying because of a lie that was perpetrated in our names. You may not like us - that's fine. But perhaps you'd like to assist us in our drive to help the brave men and women that fight in our names? I'll end with what my Air Force veteran father tells me: Put Up or Shut Up!

***********
You cannot let these assholes get the best of you. We are fighting a war in the red states and we must stay on guard and on message at all times.

Thanks for the list. It helped tremendously!

21. Sure thing.
We must stay on top of these people. No let up at all.
As I said, this is a war and we can't afford to give these people an inch of ground.

19. Gee.....Why the minimizing?
Edited on Mon May-16-05 06:19 PM by FrenchieCat
Although possibly inadvertent, I could have sworn there was a 4 star general among the Dem's list.

Dem = Wesley Clark: Army 1966-2000, Vietnam, Silver star, purple heart
vs.
Repug = Colin Powell: 35 years in Army, 4-star general

I am missing something?
