Dealing with the military bases closing
My mom just told me she talked to my grandfather earlier today. He was in the navy so he probably knows what he's talking about (he also worked for NASA for a long time). According to my grandfather them closing the military bases wasn't unusual and it makes sense why they would want to close the other bases and make things smaller. He also said he didn't agree with the navy base closing in the New England area since it was so big. So that doesn't make sense to me. Just thought I'd give this opinion on the bases.

1. Don't forget that the list was just a recommendation
actual closings will be far fewer and along partisan lines, if this gang of thieves' past behavior is any indication.

2. My guess is that Rumsfeld is closing the US bases in order to
divert the money to overseas bases, particularly in the ME. That's just a guess.

3. More then likely
They are building military bases there and are running out of money. They're also "losing" the money (I think they lose it on purpose for their greedy pockets). So it would make sense to save a lot of money by closing bases and jobs.

4. Kucinich was spot on when he said no emergency appropriations

until they investigate and find the lost billions.

Now Bush is coming with his hand out for $82 billion every quarter! The Senate this weekend approved 100-0 (no dissent this time) on the second emergency spending for the war. The first was in February. The military has already given Congress the heads up that more emergency supplementals will be required before the end of the year.

This spending isn't included in the so-called budget they will pass this year.

In the meantime we are borrowing $2 billion a day to keep our economy going.

Sigh. Sometimes I can't stand to think about it.
