Watch the "liberals" be blamed for the base closings
Here's how I think it will work:

Congress will approve base closing sometime late this year or early next year, but the big bases won't actually start to close until after Bush leaves office. Isn't it convenient that this list came out after the election. Then when it's time for the bases to actually close we'll hear shrieks of outrage from the neoconservative commentariat and radio talk show hosts about how the "'liberals' are gutting the military, just like they always do". Ironically, if a Democrat wins in 2008, the new president will be blamed, hence further damaging the Democrats credibility with anything having to do with the military. The fact that it was a Republican government that cleared the way for all of these base closures will sort of get lost amid all of the demagoguery.

1. Some will probably get blamed that they didn't fight hard enough
when a base gets closed in their district.

2. Having to Clean up Elephant Poop if We Win Is The Least of Our Worries!
Lets find some way to get our votes counted first.
Until then, we won't have to worry about winning any elections.

6. Well if Clinton didn't get his dick sucked in the white house
And John Kerry wouldn't have thrown his medals away, then none of this would be happening.

7. Well, speaking for myself
if a Democrat were to be elected President in '08, I willingly to take the hit on the closing of military bases.

8. I go away for a couple of weeks, and this place goes nuts!
I've gotten pretty busy and haven't been here lately, so maybe I've missed a paradigm shift. But since when did closing unneeded military installations become a bad thing at DU?
