4. I think Ed has his head up his ass
so far as I've seen Dean has been doing a great job for the DNC, but the ultimate indication will be in November, 2006--or even sooner--we do have Governors races in Virginia and NJ and a Mayors race in NYC. Dean has a tough job, and not everything he does is going to generate excitement with his constituency because the Democratic party is a huge party with a big tent. He has begun to reform it and his work with local parties has been excellent.

6. Uh, what do you have against Dean?
That was an idiotic thing for Schultz to say. Then again, Schultz is a Limbaugh-esque blowhard, so there you are.

"rocking"?? Uh, yeah. :eyes:

See the "rocking" comment. I, and many others, were wondering what you meant by that.

18. Oh for chrissake, get a grip. You don't think it's possible
Big Ed is bringing in a lot of blue collar guys from the "heartland" who would otherwise dismiss us Dems as "fag-loving, wine-guzzling elitist northeastern libruls??"

And have I mentioned how I admire the political acumen and pragmitism of some of my fellow Dems?

10. No, he's not. From what I understand, Dean has been flying
below the radar, meeting with local Dems and talking to local press only.

But hell, he could be jumping up and down and screaming bloody murder about the latest obscenities from BushCo, and the MSM wouldn't touch it, the latest news about runaway brides being so much more vital to the national interest.

16. Opinion
Edited on Thu May-12-05 04:57 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
I listen to Ed Schultz because he is on the radio during my drive home, but I am not a fan of his per se (I prefer Randi). I think he lets his Congress buddies off of the hook too easily when he has them on and he is always apologizing for the actions of moderate Democrats who sell us out (the interview today with Nelson just had me fuming...ask him WHY he was going to vote for Bolton knowing everything EXCEPT the sex story). He is a strong believer in top-down leadership in the Dem party, which is in sharp contrast to the beliefs of liberals and progressives.

He is great for coming up with good strategies for attacking the right, and he offers good insight into the machinations behind the Republican party, but I really wish he would stop calling himself a big leftie. He is moderate, at best.

That rant aside, I think that Howard Dean hasn't been as effective out of the gate as many of us thought he would be. That is a fair criticism of a man whom I supported in the primary and for his bid for DNC Chair.

Has Dean become an "insider"? That would indeed be sad, if true. I haven't heard much from Dean, but I sure would like to know his opinion on recent issues...and have them be more public. Visible opposition is very important.

Perhaps Schultz should interview Dean. Schultz had no problem interviewing Lieberman and refusing to hold his feet to the fire. (long apology the next day, of course).

On adit: chaanged my mind about one thing and added more...apologies to anyone who replied prematurely.
