Senator Voinovich: Back Stabber
Blogs for Bush ^ | May 12, 2005 | Mark Noonan

Posted on 05/12/2005 8:52:20 AM PDT by Mark Noonan

I just watched Ohio Senator Voinovich speak on the John Bolton nomination as US ambassador to the United Nations. I have never been so outraged by the actions of a fellow Republican in my life. After spending a good deal of time sliming Mr. Bolton, Voinovich had the nerve to say that he likes John Bolton, but that he wants the Committee to send Mr. Bolton to the Senate without a recommendation.

This does not kill the nomination, but is an outrage that a few short months after we Republicans spent our money and effort to re-elect Senator Voinovich he should stab us in the back by joining the absurd and hate-filled Democratic effort to defeat John Bolton as US ambassador to the United Nations. There is still a lot of hope that we can get Mr. Bolton through the Committee and the full Senate; one has to believe that a majority of Senators are smart enough to see through this sick political grandstanding...but I've a long memory, and I shan't forget. In 2010, I'll remember who stood where in the past.

Choice responses:

Voinofavitch is a but monkey.

a senatorial girly-man

he's doing a lieberman. garnering good press for sayint what they want to hear, but he's going with his party despite his words.

I just sent him an email indicating that I would support his opposition both in the primary and in the general election (if he survives the primary) in 2010. Calendar already marked for late 2008.

My Prediction: There will be enough RINOS like him to flip on any one issue for the 'Craps to stall every single Bush initiative and nominee. 'Craps have it easy. Just hang tough, and peel off a RINO or two here and there, and nothing will happen.

He's practicing for the GOP's minority status which is sure to come.

He claims God told him to vote against John Bolton.
Just how loud do you think the left-wing "anti-theocracy" nuts will complain? If anyone wants to start a pool, I've got dibs on the zero square.

The dems and rinos have been beating Bolton to death for,how many weeks now? They've come up with absolutely nothing, and yet this 3 ring circus(farce)continues. Why are the dems so insistant on blocking this appointment? What is the problem with Bolton, other than the fact that he's been outspoken about what he thinks about the UN?

It's far too early to say that Voinovitch is saying the wrong thing but doing the right thing, so we should give him a pass. First of all, he is strengthening the Democrat propaganda machine and giving them bipartisan cover. Second, he is putting more pressure on his fellow RINOs to vote against Bolton. Third, he may still vote against Bolton on the floor of the Senate. It's not yet certain whether Bolton has enough votes for confirmation after all these dirty lies, and Voinovitch is still being extremely unhelpful.

As it was, I was awakened by a phone call and after answering it, clicked on the TV which happened to be on Fox News...I wasn't, at first, paying attention but the ears perked up as Voinovich droned on about what a bad, bad man that mean, ol' Bolton is...but got exceptionally outraged when after 15 minutes of sliming, Voinovich tried to mollify GOPers like me by saying he thought Bolton an honorable man who has given good service to the United States...hey, Voinovich, if he's a good man who's given good service, then you've got no beef and should vote to approve...its not your call, you piss-ant, to determine whom the President selects for Administration jobs...

i heard a bit of his talk about how we need to use "diplomacy" at UN...what a laugh. Does he think diplomacy would have stopped the terrorists from slamming our planes into our buildings??
I just called his Ohio office...suggested he teach his Washington DC staff about "diplomacy". When I called that office last week re the filibuster issue, the woman essentially hung up on me the first time I called and the second time put me on hold indefinitely....and, I DID NOT START OFF BEING AN ANGRY CALLER! But, I sure became one on my third call to her. I sure hope everyone remembers these RINO's next time they run for reelection as "Republicans". They are truly disgraceful.

Every single one of the one-hundred member senate beleive that they can be president. Voinovich has these ambitions but he has killed any chance as a Republican. McCain too.

His reasoning is that we need to be concerned with how the rest of
the world views us. You know, all those countries that voted against us at the UN because they were in bed with Saddam Hussein.
Bolton just isn't enough of an a$$ kisser for Voinovich.

We again have a perfect demonsrtation of spineless Republican senators who are themselves so filled with personal ambition that they will shoot down their own president. The Ohio Senator is pathetic.

He's practicing for the GOP's minority status which is sure to come.
now, that's the funniest line I heard all day... how true -- lol...

Not one dime EVER to the NRSC. A Republican majority is useless. I will vote against McCain, even if that means voting for a Democrat. I hope Ohio turns out Voinovich. I'm disgusted by my party.

I would certainly hope that federal funding for highways in Ohio would be unavailable this year!

Tell me why it is... that politicians can't stand anyone with a back bone? b/c for 40 years the insane left and MSM have railed against the assertive male. The Warrior class needs to rise up and destroy these panty wearing Rino's. I hope to live long enough to urinate on all these Rino's graves. These men should be wearing panties on their head...oh, they are probably wearing them under there 500$ pants. What a contemptible lot.

My Prediction: There will be enough RINOS like him to flip on any one issue for the 'Craps to stall every single Bush initiative and nominee
This is the "Two-Party Cartel" that we all have been voting in for these #s of yrs. These pols in both factions are OWNED by the elites. We put the so-called conservatives in & we expect our agenda fulfilled. Since these pols all along were tied to these internationalists they now have to come out of the closet. Just notice on all important issues the elites find enough votes to ruin our causes. You can call it in braille as Chick Hern used to say. The enemy is within & it is within the Senate just as the other known places.

Not one dime EVER to the NRSC. A Republican majority is useless. I will vote against McCain, even if that means voting for a Democrat. I hope Ohio turns out Voinovich. I'm disgusted by my party. I like my party. I don't like RINOs in the Senate and CINOs on FreeRepublic.

Nothing you can write will convince me to support Democrats, Libertines, or other useless entities.

Nothing you can write will dissuade me from supporting the majority of conservative Republicans.

I apologize to all fellow Freepers for voting for this jack-ass in 2004. In 2010 when he is up for re-election, don't know what I'll do, but I will remember his stance on John Bolton. Oh yes, I will remember his stance on Bolton.

To: af_vet_1981
Nothing you can write will dissuade me from supporting the majority of conservative Republicans. Please list this great majority of true conservatives with a strong conservative agenda. I sure can list the group of true liberal/socialist/commie democrates who fight 24/7 for their causes. Show me the opposite besides a handfull at best.

But why in heck are we working our tails off and spending our money to elect GOP Senators for? Voinovich too the advantages of being on the ballot in Ohio in a year when, because of President Bush, we put a full-court press into Ohio...he benefitted from this, and now he's dropped dime on us, for ridiculous reasons! I will donate to whomever runs against him in 2010...and if he's got the nerve to try for the Presidency in 2008...

What was his reasoning? "If I stab Bolton in the back and suck up to the Rats, the Washington Post and the liberal rag in my home town will write about how 'moderate' and how 'courageous' I am!"

Is it just me or what,I don't care if I ever vote again. They are all the same gutless wonders.Even the Pres.is ticking me off.

Its time to acknowledge that alot of whats viewed by rank & file republicans as cowardice, isn't. Face it - many GOP politicians despise conservatives & hate their own party's stated principles. They've chosen the R because they couldn't win the office any other way. Remember that the next time someone chides you for voting your conscience instead of the party's annointed one.

My Prediction: There will be enough RINOS like him to flip on any one issue for the 'Craps to stall every single Bush initiative and nominee. Which is precisely why conservatives need to stop voting for RINOs, even if the alternative is a DemonRat.

"He must meet the demand of changing the hearts and minds of the world body" That is a direct quote. He also said we need "Team Work" and how we all have to get along..........the global community.

Why are the dems so insistant on blocking this appointment? What is the problem with Bolton, other than the fact that he's been outspoken about what he thinks about the UN? The real problem? He's highly effective and competent (as demonstrated for instance in his management of the "Proliferation Security Initiative," one of the most effective multilateral initiatives of the Bush administration). It's that simple. It's the same reason the Rats are blocking several of the Judicial nominees, particularly Janice Rogers Brown. She's too damn smart. I know this seems odd. A Republican Congress would focus on blocking the worst nominees of a Democrat President, but on this point as many black is white and up is down in Rat land.

Nothing you can write will dissuade me from supporting the majority of conservative Republicans. I'm not trying to dissuade you from anything. We all have our own conscience and I am happy that you are following yours. However, we also all have our limits and I have reached mine. We own the White House, Senate and House and can't get the President's nominees confirmed. This has proved to me that my support was in vain.

Voinovich has always been like this. He gets away with it because the Ohio Republican Party is full of people like him, and the Democrats run people from the far, far left against him.

We own the White House, Senate and House No We do not own them. We are fighting for them every 2 and 4 years. There is not yet a conservative majority.

Senator Voinovich, is like Trent Lott, Snowe, Hagel et al....He's (They've) grown accustom to the perks of the Senate...and Heaven forbid if the "Sainted (RINOs) Most Rightous Senators" were to lose the praise of the Liberal Senators' MSM.

"The real problem,he's highly effective and competent."Good point.Guess that's why Dems are so shook up.The idea of having someone at the UN who is actually competent is anathema to Dems and career bureaucrats.

Voinovich has always struck me as a sort of a creep, but less creepy than some on the other side of the aisle. As of today, he's left-hand material. I also think he's either dirty or monomaniacal (or maybe a bit from either column); after reading his comments, I do not for a minute believe that this a conscience thing with him. IMHO, he's delivering... but for whom?

Voinovich is just trying to save face after his pathetic performance in the committee hearing a couple of weeks a good.

Oh my goodness, it is worse than I thought. Thanks for letting me know.

6. Delusional rants that are out of touch with reality. To wit:
"What is the problem with Bolton, other than the fact that he's been outspoken about what he thinks about the UN?"

Well, he chases women down hotel halls and puts nasty notes under their doors to harrass them, was a regular at Plato's Retreat, forced his wife into anal sex against her will, tries to get people fired if they disagree with his delusions... should I continue?

"Just how loud do you think the left-wing "anti-theocracy" nuts will complain?"

Being "anti-theocracy" is a bad thing???

"...hey, Voinovich... ...its not your call, you piss-ant,..."

If Voinovich were a piss-ant rather than a United States Senator, he wouldn't be ranting like this to begin with. I wonder who this guy thinks is not a piss-ant.

"i heard a bit of his talk about how we need to use "diplomacy" at UN...what a laugh. Does he think diplomacy would have stopped the terrorists from slamming our planes into our buildings??"

This is the biggest sign that this nut is hopelessly unreachable. These people think diplomacy is a sign of weakness as is compromise.

"His reasoning is that we need to be concerned with how the rest of
the world views us. You know, all those countries that voted against us at the UN because they were in bed with Saddam Hussein.
Bolton just isn't enough of an a$$ kisser for Voinovich.

This guy's off the deep end now and can't touch bottom.

"What was his reasoning? "If I stab Bolton in the back and suck up to the Rats, the Washington Post and the liberal rag in my home town will write about how 'moderate' and how 'courageous' I am!"

(And some people might disagree here but) He says 'moderate' like its a bad thing.
---------------------

This, my friends is the mentality we are dealing with. These people are completely insane with no grasp of reality.

7. HAHAHAHA Know what I love?
Read their posts. It is so great to see the cracks in the repub party forming. Many are getting sick of their own party. Some even saying they don't even think they'll vote anymore, or that even the Pres is pissing them off.

The right was so used to walking rank and file like good little brainwashees. Total solid foundation. But now, in recent weeks, there are beginning to be cracks shown everywhere! We will take them in 06, we will take them in 08. Lord knows, the morons have had their day, but they are falling apart.

Freepers....there is no lower life form known to science.

21. Some comments
Voinofavitch is a but monkey.

The mad typings of a freeper with FR in one window, and Hot Military Studs 4U in another window.

He claims God told him to vote against John Bolton.

Did he? I didn't know that any moderate Republicans went around listening to God. That is reserved only for Bush, the messiah. God, they can't even get their own propaganda straight.

Third, he may still vote against Bolton on the floor of the Senate. It's not yet certain whether Bolton has enough votes for confirmation after all these dirty lies

What qualifies as a "dirty lie" in freeperland? Most of the evidence is first-hand testimony, on tape, or part of official courtroom documents. It is pretty damning for anyone who would judge a UN nominee based on integrity, diplomacy, unimpeachabiliy, and teamwork skills.

its not your call, you piss-ant, to determine whom the President selects for Administration jobs...

The Constitution explicitly gives the Senate he power to "advise and consent", you cult-of-personality freak. The world doesn't revolve around your King-messiah just because you have a crush on him.

When I called that office last week re the filibuster issue, the woman essentially hung up on me the first time I called and the second time put me on hold indefinitely....and, I DID NOT START OFF BEING AN ANGRY CALLER!

I think this one needs to lay off the coffee. This specimen is also the same one that made the "diplomacy didn't stop the planes from hitting the towers" line. I would assert to this fellow that militarism, mendacity, and corporatism were certainly big factors to cause the planes to hit. Diplomacy could have worked, but it was many years too late, precluded by 20 years of Republican corporatism, militarism, and mendacity. Fnny how that works out, eh?

You know, all those countries that voted against us at the UN because they were in bed with Saddam Hussein.

Yes, these are bad, bad countries demanding that we provide proof of a causus belli before killing tens of thousands. Also, notice how this particular freeper specimen has completely blocked out that his man, Dick Cheney, was in bed with Saddam....and Reagan...and Rumsfeld...etc. etc? How soon we forget in freeperland.

Insane left are we? LOL...at least I don't wait until people die to piss on their graves and speak of Warrior classes (what the hell? This isn't Dungeons and Dragons!). I think this one has taken one too many Viagra.

Why are we so insistent? Perhaps because we went to war by defying the UN and killed thousands, and now our reputation internationally is in such tatters that we cannot get anything done in US interest without twisting arms. I know, we're picky.

As far as the competency argument he brings forth, the PSI is NOT a damned success because we have secured less WMDs since Bush took office than before, nuclear weapons are being sold across borders in N. Korea, and we have used WMD's in Iraq, violating the initiative. I think this freeper must be one of their leaders...he tried to present a fact, albeit wihtout details, and rather erroneously. Silly freeper.

Man...this being a DU member and actualy seeing freeper posts makes for easy sport! Thanks for the thread.

Oh, indeed it is his job. Or rather, it may not be his job to "determine who the President selects," but it is his job to either approve OR disapprove those selections.
