Polite observation...
Edited on Thu May-12-05 02:12 PM by RBHam
on edit: a cleaned up version. I sent it to Malloy - maybe he'll read it tonight...

A Polite Observation...
RB Ham

I've heard a lot of talk on progressive forums about American citizens who are considering leaving the country. My thoughts are that you should consider not publicizing it too much. For obvious reasons.
After all, the Reich Wingers hope you do - then they'll have less of a fight to take over.

Secondly, it makes you look bad to those uninformed middle of the roaders. It might hurt your cause, as these fence sitters may not consider that a very patriotic thing to do. No matter how bad things get.

Besides, America has traditionally been a PROGRESSIVE beacon to the world. Sure, right now the Fascists have control - but they are seriously over-reaching in their arrogance and are prime for a fall. The mainstream media can pretend the BBC Memo doesn't exist, or that the policy of torturing false confessions from shopkeepers and goatherders is a noble cause, but eventually the stench will just get too ripe for even the complicit and compliant Corporate Press Corpse. They have to know through polls by now that more and more average citizens are completely tuning them out.

To those of you considering leaving, I suggest you keep your options close to the chest. Sure, make contingency plans, but STAND YOUR GROUND NOW! You're running out of time - but there's still hope!

Just don't fall for another fake terror scam, people! Remember who would benefit the most from just such a disaster at this time!

Smash the paperless voting machines, demand a paper ballot! It works everywhere else! Flawlessly!

Shove the BFEE's nose in the 9-11 LIHOP at every opportunity, demand answers to the hundreds of unanswered questions they refuse to discuss, support yhe 9-11 widows and their search for justice, never give up!

And. mostly, every time Iraq is mentioned it should be attached to the bBC memo that proves Bush lied. Use the words "illegal", "immoral","torture","shame" and "quagmire" with alacrity.

Fight them on the airwaves, fight them in the newspaper editorials, take to the streets and make it clear that they can't kill you all...

Tick Tock Tick Tock

If YOU can't stop these guys, running to Canada won't save you. Trust me, I'm ashamed to have to relay some bad news. I am Canadian, and the Bush people pressured our Political leadership to pass strict anti-asylum laws for American soldiers and broadened the definition of a "terrorist" that COULD include those who actively engage in "unsubstantiated anti-American propaganda"...Charter of Rights lawyers are appealing, but...

You get it? It's up to you, American patriot. Now is the time. Your country is the battleground. Take it back.

Before it's too late.

1. Stay and fight
I once told a friend that I was toying with the idea of leaving, at least for a while. He gave me a "WTF are you talking about?" look and said, "Stay and fight."

3. Right! "To the mattresses . . .", but without the capo's machine
guns. The Grassroots has lots of "mattresses".

2. Somebody posted here recently asking why people stay within
religious organizations that teach things they don't agree with. Its because they love the institution and want to make it better.

How much more then, should we stay in our country- if we love this country we need to stay here and use all our energy to get it back on track with all that we know it can be. :patriot:

8. Call me a filthy humanist if you will, I believe in People.
Sometimes something has to whack them upside the head to get their attention. Hopefully that something won't be an enviromental catastrophe that will plague generations and generations of "Americans" to come (while those who can afford to move elsewhere into further gated "communities" away from the riff-raff).

4. I had said I wanted to move out in another post awhile back.
But in reality, I want to stay and watch this administration get burned. With the Dems finally standing up and yelling in protest about everything, I think us non-repukes will be putting in our order for rare, medium or well done.

7. I don't believe...
that many people are serious about leaving. Its just something people say to address their dissatisfaction over the direction of this country.

BTW, How's the job market for mechanical engineers in Vancouver? ;-)
