¿When was the last time the US actually PAID UN dues?
You can't count Ted Turner's targeted $1 Billion contribution in ____ or that the UN counts our military "donation". When was the last time the US actually paid money to the UN?

I think I found the answer but I am curious if I got it right and how many people here know this.

1. I thought we paid up part of it right before the Iraq war to try to
kiss a little ass.

But I could be wrong.

4. They paid off some and it used to be higher
US Debt to the UN:

31 March 2005
Regular Budget: $680 million (50%)
Peacekeeping: $743 million (54%)
Total: $1,512 million (51%)

On 31 August 2001 it was $2.351 billion so there is a slight improvement...

5. Wow it is really hard to find hard facts on this
I had 1998 as the answer AND 1995 :silly:

The US has not paid its UN dues in full and on time for some years. In 1995 it paid less than half of its total assessment. These gaps have never been closed.

3. Ok. When, and how much in arrears are we?
I wondered that myself recently. Does the UN really need US money, or could the General Assembly just vote to suspend the US delegation and empanel an international war crimes trial?

6. US would veto it.
It would put the administration in the uncomfortable position of seeming to need the U.N. though.
