True difference between Liberals (intelligent) and conservatives (morons)
The conservatives are praising Real ID as a step in the right direction to shore up national security, even though they'd be screaming to High Heaven had it been proposed under a Democratic Administration.

Liberals would hate it no matter who proposed it.

1. That just goes to show
that these "people" aren't real conservatives. Barry Goldwater would have been up in arms over this proposal. They are fascists, nothing more, nothing less.

2. That should be the new test for neocons
Hey, if it would be too conservative for Goldwater, maybe we should think about this one more time.

3. Not that I'm in the habit of defending conservatives....
but I know many conservatives that are against any form of national ID. In fact, I think this is one of those issues where both ends of the spectrum "wrap around" and meet. I think its the moderates of both parties that tend to support stuff like this.

4. Yes -
It kind of depends on the wing - Libertarians are going to be opposed to it (and are in many cases, as far as i can tell), but for radical christians, it's probably not a big issue (unless they think it's the Mark of the Beast).

5. Remember Clinton holding up the card?
Something to the effect of a debit card, for, I believe, replacement of food stamps. This was LONG before debit cards came into such vogue.

Repukes went into high gear, whining about how they'd be stuck behind some "welfare queen" finding out that she didn't have enough in her credit to purchase her crap and debating with the manager.

Of course, if Bush said "You have to walk around with a yellow Star of David prominently displayed.", they'd be saying "Sign me up!"
