I would bet that there is an entire staff at the FBI, CIA, and Homeland Security offices that monitor "liberal" discussion groups.

It was not long after the Department of Homeland security was formed that they were used as a political tool in Texas. Homeland security was sent to find the "rogue" democratic legislators that fled to neighboring states in order to stop an illegal gerrymandering attempt by the Reich wing in Texas.

Homeland security also investigates "peace groups". Now there is a threat to National Security for you, a group of people who oppose violent solutions to political problems. Meanwhile, they do not investigate the KKK, Aryan Nations, National Alliance, The CCC, Neo Confederates, Neo Nazi's or other violent right wing extremist groups.

It seems our government has assimilated to the stupidity of its leader.

21. With all the budget cuts that the Republicans are doing I doubt

if they have the manpower to do much monitoring. You don't think all the money allocated to Homeland Security is going to trickle down do you? That's their pension fund when they need to escape to the Cayman Islands.

I'm sure there is a file or two out there on political websites, but it would be a gargantuan job to monitor the internet at large. That's why I think they are going to try to control it instead making boards like this one disappear.

These one line, smart ass responses are deafening.
The answer is certainly yes. Government intelligence agencies have the most powerful computers in the world caching incredible volumes of information from the internet with the intent to create an exhaustive database of every person of consequence. Gmail is a good example of an equally insecure internet resource. They are interested in who is connected, who has influence over the actions of others, who is taking direct action, and who has extreme views relative to the norm. DU is certainly a specific site of interest. As a result, there may be computer time devoted specifically to monitoring its content. If you use certain key words often enought, you pop up as a red flag in the system, and monitoring of your internet activity becomes more focused. If they had any reason, they could correlate your whole network for keyword occurance. They have huge secret rooms full of people doing research on the red flags and discovering associations. with unlimited access to online information. They hold the master key, following the actions of specific people and and the content of specific sites. However, you are not likely to register a red flag. There are too many people just ranting and doing nothing. They are looking for those who may influence others to act. In that sense I can only hope they have reason to listen to you. - R.C.
