3. If true, and I think you're right
doesn't that give them a tie at best. I thought for sure they'd get to Voinovich, appears not.

4. A tie still goes to the floor for an up or down vote
but could be filibustered.

8. I thought that Biden and Lugar discussed that a tie vote stays IN the ...
committee, therefore no Senate floor vote.

5. But a tie means Bolton never gets out of committee, which is fine.
Works for me.

happy when Voinovich stood up a few weeks back.

Which means he'll be confirmed.

Must've told him the usual:

"You say no to this and we'll kill you in the primaries in 2006"

:grr:

24. I WISH I was just speculating. nope. that's what happened, he recommended
sending the nomination WITHOUT recommendation, which is meaningless. Its a way to have it both ways: to object to the choice of Bolton but to allow it regardless.

21. Great.......
Now Bolton will go to the U.N. and we will most likely go to war with Iran. Watch and see. They had to get Bolton in so he can cram the war with Iran down there throats. AAHHHHH

26. unfortunately, you are correct, IMHO.
I figure we start sanctions immediately through the UN of Iran, perhaps also Syria.
In a very quick clip, because I believe their schedule is to invade or bomb the heck out of Iran by August at the latest, and probably sooner.

I figure he will threaten the U.N. of being disbanded or a deal to "forget" about the oil for food program. Wanna, bet?

28. Where are you getting this from?
I saw Voinavich's speech, and didn't see where he said that he would "vote for Voinavich despite some reservations."

Did I miss something?

31. sorry, to clarify...
I was watching the webstream, and heard him say (my summary) boltn was not the best choice, but voin would not go against the other republicans wanting to send him to the floor for a vote. His suggestion would be to send him for a vote "without recommendation", which essentially means, as I understand it, with no attending fact-finding, just an up or down vote.

obviously, its not on the floor yet for an up or down vote, I meant he said "yes" to send the nomination to the floor.

sorry if my wording was confusing.

well, yes, but so what?
He found out he's the worst possible choice, but did nothing to stop it.
That's the same result as if he'd not found out the truth.

meh.

27. Biden On MSNBC
Joe's rubbing it in. This is gonna be a great hearing to catch on replay. I can't wait for Barbara to get her shots in. Hopefully CSPAN will replay it this afternoon.

BTW...I have a feeling the Flynt stuff worked its way to some hands...and I could swear Voinovich allueded to it when he mentioned "previous behavior I won't get into".
