3. Okay, now that pisses me off.
I'm a liberal democrat so that means if some asshole republican gets lewd with me I have no recourse?

Or does it mean that he assumes she's lying so of course she must be a liberal democrat.

Please let someone call him on that assinine statement. What a jerk!

4. They really love to bandy that phrase around.....
"Liberal Democrat"...relating it to "leper" or "murdering psychopath". Lugar's a complete idiot.

The only murdering psychopaths in government are inhabiting the White House right now.

5. Liberal Demorcat
That's how he described the woman who testified about being chased. He also said she worked for a woman's group for Kerrylast year. He's calling the whole debate a political stunt by obstructionist liberal democrats. He's defending Bolton by saying basically "so he is an asshole, Bush wants an asshole in the UN".

7. He said she didn't provide any witnesses
even though it was supposedly a public event that she talked to many people about it.

He's also running through a list of Bolton supporters.

11. Voinovich is up now - he's going to vote NO!!!!!!
Says the investigation has been thorough and fair, he now has enough info to cast his vote today. He personally met with Bolton, he has concerns about Bolton based on a larger issue, public diplomacy. If the UN nominee can't win over hearts and minds we'll have bigger problems.

We need help of other countries and the key is public diplomacy. applauds admin's steps toward public diplomacy. But what message do we send if we appoint a bully? Confirmation of Bolton would send a negative message, undermine the goals of the UN.

Bolton would make it more difficult to reform the UN, other UN members would use Bolton's reputation against us.

Concerns about Bolton's ability to work with others.

He's going to vote NOOOO!!!!!!!!

13. Wanted to say to Rice
"Why in the world would you want to send someone to the UN who needs to be so closely supervised?"

Going over others with concerns about Bolton.

Choice for UN should be one of the most thoughtful choices we make, UN ambassador should inspire confidence.

Is Bolton the best person? The admin says yes. Bolton has accomplished good things and should be commended, esp for work re anti-Semitism, but has deficiencies re being an ambassador, he's an ideologue who does not listen, lords success over others, doesn't follow procedures.

Believes Bolton would have been fired had he worked for a major corporation, it's not the face the US should present to the world.

Bolton is the "poster child" of what a diplomat should NOT be!

What do we say to our diplomatic corp if we nominate such a person?

All things being equal he believes in supporting the president's nominee but all things are not equal here. The US can do better than Bolton.

15. OH CRAP!
He's going to vote to send the nomination to the full senate. He wants to send him without recommendation and hopes the full senate will seriously consider that Bolton's not the best choice.

Oh bummer! Big time bummer!!!!

16. Biden's up now
He's complementing Voinovich for his eloquence, agreeing with the sentiments.

He talked about how at times certain groups applied pressure for appointments of some sort or another. Says he asked Rice if she knew how much trouble Bolton caused Powell. She said yes but that there was a need to find a position for Bolton. Biden asked her how, if she couldn't say "no" to the nomination, how was she going to react in the future if he strayed? She had no answer.

Says the Dems didn't search out witnesses against Bolton, they all came forward on their own because of concerns about Bolton going to the UN. The most damaging testimony against Bolton came from within Republican administrations.

Not questioning Bolton's patriotism or accomplishments, he's had good accomplishments but they don't make him qualified or the right person for the UN.
