Michael Moore should start a cable network
He has the name, the money, and the connections. A Michael Moore cable network would get tons of publicitiy and send the far right-wing into convulsions. It would make the Air America radio launch look like a non-story.

Any chance we can convince Michael Moore to start a network?

1. That's an absolutely GREAT idea
I'm just waking up, but your suggestion sounds so damn brilliant, I have to tell you that you just put a wonderful gloss on this already very fine day.

I'd put money into a venture like that. Now that our local PBS has gone rightwing talk show crazy, I'd be thrilled to put money into an MM cable network.

What a GREAT idea!!!

2. I don't know about the chances, but...
even though I'm not the biggest Michael Moore fan I would volunteer to help in any way I could to launch the project.

3. You need MULTI (as in hundreds of) millions to even start
I would venture to guess he can be a part-owner, but the real cash would have to come from someone like a George Soros or a Warren Buffet. Michael Moore is rich, but not THAT rich.

4. I agree.
But to get AAR going it took star power right? Franken, Garafolo, Lizz Winstead. Moore's celebrity Eclipses these people....F-911 was the biggest grossing documentary in history.

The right-wing would just nuts on this...it would generate so much free publicity.

All i'm saying is that he coudl get this project going, with him backing it it would take off. I want him to keep making movies, but this would be such a worthy project!

5. Mike .... Oprah ............. Oprah ..... Mike
He's rich, but he ain't *that* rich. We're talking not scores of million$, but hundred$ of million$.

That said, if he were to go out and try to raise some money and put together some investors .... it could happen.

All clowning aside, I have long felt that left leaning media would make a bazillion dollars a second. We're more than half the country and we're underserved by half. Build it and they *will* come.

6. I wish some Croesus rich liberal would. I think CNN could be
the first to file for bankruptcy and therefore ripe for takeover. I don't even want a liberal network, but one that actually presents the news without bias and whose editorial content features both left and right wing pundits, who actually know what they are talking about instead of all the shout jock purveyors of misinformation that now clog the air waves with their sewage.

7. There is no such thing as unbiased coverage
It's impossible. Everyone has a bias. In the USA most of MSM has center-right bias. FINE, no big deal. The problem is the big lie that it is really 'liberal'

We need something liberal with a true liberal bias.

8. The truth doesn't have a bias.
This is what journalism is about, finding the truth and reporting it withoug interjecting your opinion.

But it is BULLSHIT.

You are raised in this country and you are indoctrinated with an warped American view of history. You have a bias. Everyone does.

No person can present facts in an unbiased manner. NO ONE.

10. Michael Moore isn't the right guy to own/finance the network....
...but I would certainly hope he would contribute to the programming on such a network. In the middle of all these crappy "reality" shows and "newsmagazines" on TV, a show like "TV Nation" or "The Awful Truth" should fit right in. Except the corporatist networks cancelled them much too soon - for telling the truth.

11. I'm interested to hear your reasons

Why he shoudln't own or finance it.

I know he wouldn't be foolish enought to risk his entire fortune starting it. I just see him getting the ball rolling and bringing in publicity.

I've see his shows, TV Nation, and The Aweful Truth. I was watching some of the Aweful Truth last nite. Some of it is really bad. You can rent it from NetFlix and Blockbuster, or download ("illegaly") it if you know where to look.

But if i were him i'd do a best of DVD set for each of these shows. A lot of the stuff is outdated or just not funny (which what he's going for on these TV shows) so it could be cut down and it would work better.
