Okay I turned on Hardball for a minute but they were babbling on endlessly about Nancy Reagan.

Otherwise the TV has been off, or watching something besides news. (Great show on The Misfits on PBS tonite, and an interview with Robert Plant.)

Stay away from it and you being to realize what empty foolishness CNN, MANBC,Fux are.

1. Oh they're great entertainment for me.
I luaghed and laughed at Anderson Cooper tonight describing the "24 minutes of terror", trying sooooo hard to evoke a 9/11-ish feeling to the Cessna incident. It's laughable, really.

3. It's beyond laughable to me. I can't even stomach "Countdown" any more
All the endless coverage of the "Runaway Bride".

Except for "Daily Show" news, I watch none of it, and am MUCH happier.

4. I haven't watched TV PERIOD
in 2 years. You will notice the difference once you seperate yourself. When you stop watching TV, you begin to read, once you begin to read, you begin to form opinions, once you form opinions you get in trouble. That's my vicious semi-cycle of life these days.

In all seriousness, my mind feels more relaxed knowing I don't have to worry about hyped bullshit fear, and that I don't have to see the great leader every day strutting his horseshit agenda.

For a 20 year old American, I am very strange, wouldn't you agree?

7. I don't think you're strange
I stopped watching TV when I was eleven - that was thirty-four years ago. And yes, you begin to read, you begin to realize there is much more "news" out there than what is reported in the half hour slices of infotainment. And yep - opinions can get you into trouble, but at least they're opinions you formed in your own mind through your own reading and thought! They aren't the canned opinions offered up on the news.

And yep, not watching TV news is great for stress relief. It doesn't mean you aren't informed - you just aren't coping with the worshipful way the current administration is being presented and lauded.

6. I remember when...
tv was a major part of my life. I grew up on TV and I was addicted to it for 20 years. I'm 30 now and have been off of it for 2 years. I still have relapses sometimes. I used to think well I can just watch the nightly new, first came 9/11 and then election 2004 came. I realized it is all mind control and propaganda and everytime I turned it on I got sick. I've since rearranged my living room furniture so that the tv is no longer center of attention.

8. I haven't watched TV news for a month or so.... My blood pressure
went down significantly. I have been watching things like the history channel, TLC, Discovery and a few movies.

I get snippets of news from my now addicted-to-news companion. First it was me glued to every sound byte, now it's him. Heehee..

Coming back in here the last few days has caught me up on some things as have the emails I get from PDA, DCC, others, and my state Dem reps.

I've been reading a book by Robert Plant too. Very interesting.

Still have my anti-republican bumperstickers on vehicle and wear my paperclip on my lapel when I go out. I just had to relax a bit and tend to those crises right in front of me.

Happy on ya! :hi:

12. I haven't ditched the net
I don't want to avoid real news.

Just that cotton-candy poison that passes for "news" on the networks.

I think the last straw was the runaway bride getting mega coverage at the same time the budget was passed. A case of cold feet was much more important to CNN than the future of the country.

Fukkem.
