Poltically Active Music Groups
http://www.abc.net.au/oils/about/

Man, I wish the Oils were more active today. If Peter ran for US President (too bad he can't), I'd vote for him, little question about it.

Are there any recent, strong groups like this today? Gang of Four is another older but gooder group, DKs, etc.

We recently did some work for her father 'Dollar Bill', they are a very talented and liberal family. It was just before the 'election'.

What a treat to work for some fellow libs deep in the heart of Texas.

3. Lots of punk bands still are
Fat Mike from NOFX/Fat Wreck Chords organized the "Rock Against Bush" compilations (and the Punk Voter movement, if my memory is correct), with a whole ton of bands on them. The band Anti-Flag is pretty vocal against the war, in particular, and they have a lot of smart commentary in general. Bad Religion has been writing political songs for more than two decades. I could go on and on. :) These guys may not be in the mainstream but there are still a lot of politically active bands out there.

4. My favorite is...
Incubus. They are a great anti-war/bush band that is commonly overlooked. Their new record "A Crow Left of the Murder" includes the tune "Megalomaniac" which, in my opinion is a direct lashing towards the chimp. Lead singer Brandon Boyd is also a practicing Buddhist and urges for compassion towards our fellow man. He's also a good poet/artist.Check them out if you haven't. I definitely reccommend these guys for your playlist.
