Striking Difference of 9/11 and Today's Events

the Secret Service scurried up the President and placed him in the Car transported him immediately...What happened 9/11? Did Secret Service swoop into the class room and rushed the President to safety? No he sat there as Secret Service stood waiting for orders...Tell me what is the striking difference in each these events.

1. They have a set plan

in place in DC, especially following 9-11, and they didn't for the events that took place on 9-11 when he was in a classroom?

That point has never bothered me. They had to clear the plan for evacuation, see what was going on, clear the route to the plane etc etc etc. I have no problem with the reaction at the school.

Well, by the secret service anyway.

2. I thought they said he was exercising and did not know until it was over

just like on 9/11 when he was reading "My Pet Goat" and did not know until both towers had been struck.

The air-defense response, which was completely normal today - just like it has been every other day for decades - except on 9/11 - was the most striking contrast between today and 9/11.

to a safe place...My mistake...But still there are odd things about Today's events and those that took place on 9/11.

The fighters in the air intercepting the plane...where were they on 9/11?

How did any of the Secret Service know that Bush would not be a target on 9/11? They have reports of two aircrafts purposely flying into buildings...and Bush's photo op was well known for time prior to 9/11

This bothered me big time...the leader of the country would not be thought of as a possible target? Why did the Secret Service not act on that day?

"We need to be able to search these rooms on Tuesday and nobody can be in them.
Make sure everything is left unlocked."

"We need to have a list of everyone who is invited to be in the Media Center faxed to the White House."

"We are going to need three rooms for staff during the visit, in this office we need to have the desks cleared off on Friday."


Can you move the furniture out of this area?"

"Fox News called and we need to install 49 phone lines"

I wonder if this is more security than usual. Was Fox News set up to scoop the story?


Here is what one of the teachers had to say:

"The entire day crawled by, millisecond by millisecond. Parents were in fear for their children's safety and students were checked out all day long. I was left with less than a dozen students that I had to explain as best as I could, the events that were occurring and why, even though I was barely grasping the reality of the situation myself. One of my thoughts shifted to the fact that Emma E. Booker is located only a few miles from the Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport and we could have very easily been a target as well."

OBVIOUSLY, parents of the students at Booker Elementary School were in fear for their childrens' lives...why, then, did the Secret Service do nothing to get the President out of the school immediately??

5. Well...

Today's incident was just a couple of lost pilots in a harmless little airplane that nobody expected to blunder into prohibited airspace, but they all had to make a big deal about protecting the Pretzeldent from the Terror Cessna of Death. OTOH, on 9/11, maybe somebody might have known something was going to happen. Not that our government would do something evil but... just sayin'...

10. It's my guess that he does that kind of thing more often than we know.

Betcha anything he always bikes during the middle of weekdays when the whole rest of the world is actually doing their jobs. But who's gonna tell that lazy, uselss git to get off his dead ass and earn his $400,000 salary, room and board and free 747? I don't attribute any meaning to his little bike jaunt because it's probably SOP.

park and the SS didn't tell him about the incident until he finished. Laura was taken to a secure area and Cheney was evacuated according to the other thread.
