Need help with a response to a LTTE
Thanks... the letter basically says that world terrorism is not the fault of George Bush & Condi Rice. (gag) Bush couldn't have done anything to stop the terrorists blowing up the train in Spain.

Then, he quotes my original about the 650 terrorist acts worldwide in 2004, but then qualifies it by saying we had 0 in the US.

Now, the first part is easy... before the Iraq invasion, a bad year for terrorism was around 100 acts worldwide. Now, we have 175 in 2003, an all-time high, and then 650 in 2004, and that didn't include Iraq!!!

1. well
You could ask: So the only terrorist acts that count are the ones on home soil? Other innocent deaths don't matter?

3. Not yet
We're training a whole new generation of terrorists and teaching them what tactics work and what don't. Is he willing to bet that after they kick us out of Iraq, they won't have the base of operations they want to launch the next round of attacks. Sure, they're tied up right now killing our troops, but once they finish, they're going to have trillions of dollars in oil wealth to launch their next round of attacks. We can't even keep dirt poor, ignorant, helpless campasinos out of our country. They walk in practically at will.

Does this chump really think the terrorists are going to have a difficult time of getting false papers and entering the country any time they want?

Arguing with someone that stupid is kinda pointless, but I guess we have to try.

4. Prior to 9-11 how many acts of terror were committed against us?
Not including domestic terror like Oklahoma City.

Well, there was the WTC bombing in 1993.

Like Bill Maher said, there hasn't been another attack on the US because they move slowly.

5. How about American terrorists?
Certainly what we did in Falleuja was terrorism. Lobbing depleted uranium at towns and our own troops sounds like terrorism. "Renditions" where the U.S. military quietly goes into another country and kidnaps a person, puts him on a private jet, and ships him to a country where torture is allowed sounds like terrorism. On and on.
If you count what this country is doing around the world, the terrorism count goes way up.
