Democrats need to back up the truck...
When a baseball team keeps losing, management makes changes like firing the manager or signing a free agent impact player.

I'm sitting here watching Donna Braziel on Crossfire and I'm just shaking my head. I love Donna, and I love her taking points and I think she's done a great job in the past.

But don't we need new Dem Consultants....new people with new ideas to help turn around our losing record at the polls??

It pains me to say this because I love our people, but I think it's time for some serious tough love so we have a chance in the mid-terms next year and in the presidential in 2008

1. the phrase is, "back the truck up!"
what's needed is unity. the sense that mission #1 is to break up derail the banana republican juggernaut. we can worry about the ideal replacement later.

2. But I feel that what we need is so simple...
We don't need Donna or Karl...

What we need is to stand up for the Constitution of the United States, and the Declaration of Independence.
Stand up for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We will gain the progressives, the moderates, and the moderate republicans who need to understand that the Theo-Fascists are NOT conservative.

That's all.

7. With all due respect, you sound like one of our
broken record-sounding Democratic consultants with all of the talk
about standing up for the Declaration of Independence and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Americans want to know that they're safe from terrorists, they want to hear about the economy and that their taxes are not going up. Those are the facts whether any of us like it or not. The Republicans play off of that and they win.

We absolutely WILL NOT gains the moderates, etc., unless we start hammering Bush about, for instance, how on his watch, the world has become a much more dangerous place since N. Korea has built nuclear weapons which can reportedly reach the U.S.

9. Actually, you just have to let people in on the truth,
problem is, when we tell the truth, they think it's propaganda because they are told so and then you add in a media that doesn't really back up what we're saying.

10. I don't think it's necessarily the media -- we need
to stop whining about FOX, etc., because it's not working. I
just feel the Republican spokespeople do a better job explaining positions the average Joe cares about than the Democrats.

We need to get focused and we need to get tough!! :kick:

11. Oh, I agree with you cboy...
But in my view, standing up for the Constitution and the Declaration of Human Rights does not mean just talking about it in TV Talk shows.
It means denouncing the War in Iraq, the treatment of detainees, the Patriot Act, etc. the list is long.

And also denouncing the so called War on Terror, a major scam, that has increased terrorism 6 fold around the world.

War and threats don't solve everything, especially terrorism and nuclear proliferation. Signing out of treaties that so many people have worked so hard and so long to get signed is an encouragement for everyone else to pile up their arsenal...

How do we feel safe?
1 - When the government does not spend our time and money scaring us to death on purpose
2 - When we realize what terrorism is and how to fight it: by acting on the root causes, poverty, exploitation, and engaging in talks with Al Qaeda. Yes talks.
3 - By signing and acting accordingly to all Non-Proliferation treaties.

Is that so hard?? Why is no one in the Democratic Party (except maybe DK?) running on this platform...

As for taxes and the economy, whose taxes are not going up right now?
The extremely rich...Everyone else is currently taking a cut in pay across the board. Do you call $300 a year a cut in taxes, with inflation and all?? And of course, when I say "cut in pay" I am talking about the lucky ones who have jobs...

3. Donna allows herself to be sidetracked by Puke
interruptions, and never makes her point. I understand the new guard is being trained. Hopefully Bergala gets the boot.

4. They need GRASSROOTS people who are fighting the fight
in real life....not the DC bubble..

These people all schmooze with each other..Donna has LUNCH with her "friend" Karl Rove..

NONE of the present "advisors and consultants" care one whit about the plight of ordinary people.. They just pretend-fight on TV for 6 figure incomes:puke:

5. My opinion
Our people are yapping at the rethugs, the rethugs are ignoring us and speaking directly to the people. Winning a little tit for tat with some gucci-wearing punk you despise is satisfying, but has no impact on elections. The GOP loves to throw out some stupid lie so Dems will go ballistic, while they concentrate on the things that win elections.

Time to get people outside of DC running things. The GOP has been historically decentralized. It's a lot less so now that they're in power, and that might be their real weakness. Apart from being lying, hypocritical, steal-and-spend, warmongering thugs, that is.

8. There's nothing wrong with being civil with
Republicans as long as you put on the boxing gloves. The Democrats are not tough. The come across as being weak, and it's killing us at the polls.
