2. Me too
Plus they attached it to a military support bill. Wasn't there a tsunami support bill too (wtf?)? So it could be spun around that they didn't support the troops and all that nonsense. As someone else in another ID thread someone pointed out how Fiengold voted against the Patriot Act but voted for this?! What in the world is that about?! I'm just in so much disbelief. *sigh*

4. Maybe this is how
they plan to regulate women who have abortions and people like me who want stem cell therapy. Or do you think am getting paranoid? The stem cell laws that say you cant get stem cell therapy in one state are becoming clearrer.

5. Because it was attached to the bill to
support the troops. You're apparently not an American unless you support the soldiers, even when the addendums 'fuck' the populace. I want to know: whomever attaches that crap, can it be removed, like a cancerous tumor, before it's 'attached'? And if not, WHY NOT??

9. total capitulation . . .
if their reasoning was that they couldn't vote against Real ID because they absolutely couldn't vote against the bill it was attached to, they're giving BushCo and the Repugs absolute license to employ the same tactic with ANYTHING they want passed into law . . . just attach it to a bill that the Dems "can't vote against" and -- voila! -- fascist theocratic dictatorship! . . . this is so absurd that it's actually painful . . .

(05-10) 18:57 PDT WASHINGTON, (AP) --

States are threatening to challenge in court and even disobey new orders from Congress to start issuing more uniform driver's licenses and verify the citizenship or legal status of people getting them.

...

"Governors are looking at all their options. If more than half of the governors agree we're not going down without a fight on this, Congress will have to consider changing this unfunded federal mandate," said Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, vice chairman of the National Governors Association. A Huckabee aide said the options include court action.

...

States will have three years after the president signs the bill to obey the rules. If they don't, their residents won't be able to board planes or enter federally protected buildings.

States also question how they will verify birth certificates, whose appearance vary widely by state and county. Dunlap said his state has only a portion of birth certificates online.

So we can't even go in public government buildings anymore that's paid by our tax dollars?! AHH!!!! I hope the governor's all put up a good fight. When Mr. Huckabee is on your side then you know this plan is PURE shit.
