I got to slam one of the 101st Keyboardist Brigades
You know the kind. He's early 30s. Got a prime job with an oil company as an IT guy. Comes from a rich family, got a prime education, never broke a sweat while working in his life. HARD CORE Republican and NeoCon.

I know this guy IRL. He and I post on another board in the political section and he's always spouting the party line. We're in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here in the US, that kind of s***. He posts about jobs surging this month and I post the stats about bankrupty at an all time high and wages being stagnant. You know the kind.

So I took a cue from DailyKos and posted this..

The Armed Services Missing Their Recruiting Goals

Here's a suggestion! I know that a lot of you hawks are under 38 years old. Why not go down and ENLIST!! Put your money where your mouth is!! Go help your "hero" Bush fight The War On Terror and help bring democracy to those poor Iraqis!

Or is it all just words? It's pretty easy to talk about how this war is justified and we're fighting the good fight when you're sitting safely behind a keyboard. Why not head over to Iraq and put your words into action?

Sure enough he took the bait. Here is his reply...

Sitting safely behind the keyboard is right. Rather than fighting the war on terror on US soil, which is what the doves would have preferred us to do.

Besides, I have a big enough role reducing our dependency on foreign oil. Think about that the next time you drive your gas guzzler out to the pristine wilderness.

So I pounced. Was this an adequate reply??

Spoken like a true hero xxx. You talk a big patriotic game but wouldn't think of doing the real fighting. I'm sure that your skills could be used in Iraq but you're part of the 101st Fighting Keyboardists instead.

I'll bet you have one of those hypocritical yellow ribbons on your car.

Gawd these people piss me off so bad!!!

2. That's pret-ty good.
Of course sometimes I feel like I'm on the left's keyboardist brigade, the 110th (ours has more keys :) )

What are the chances he'll sign up for the Minutemen now?

4. LOL
He's too busy making money. Can't blame him for that but he's too damn willing to let other people die for that money. I'm doing my best to keep him humble but it's an uphill struggle.

3. Fill out a Enlistment form in his name and send it to him
http://www.dior.whs.mil/forms/DD0004.pdf (Looks like the site is temporarily down - must be all of the RW chickenhawks rushing to put their words into action)

5. I probably would have been much more...
... blunt. I would have said, "you approve of war for your own financial benefit and that of your employer, but you won't fight yourself. That makes you a coward, just like the people now in government you most admire."

7. Actually that was my first thought..
but I have to deal with him now and again in social situations that are nonpolitical. If he ever does bring it up face to face then I'm gonna give it to him with both barrels. Most of our mutual friends know that he's just a money grubbing little NeoCon.

10. Ah, well...
... social situations are overrated.

In that regard, find guidance in Jorge Amado's Pen, Sword, Camisole. Look for it. It's a good book.

Cheers.
