the famous king looks at us from across the millenia. this is a reconstruction made by scientists using a catscan of the actual king.

2. I don't get how they can know what the nose or lips would look like.
It's a fascinating graphic, but how much of his actual face still remained, and how much of that soft tissue is just "a guess"? The makeup is cool, though.

10. They know the basic shape of muscle and collagen
from the bone underneath. Forensic sculptors can make absolutely uncanny resemblances of people long dead simply by measuring every aspect of a skull, constructing the muscles, and then fleshing it out with cartilage and skin. Often relatives won't be able to recognize a two dimensional drawing of a deceased person, but they do recognize people when they're reconstructed in three dimensions by forensic sculptors.
