Prescott Bush and Averell Harriman committed one of the great wrongs
of history.

Elsewhere at DU , another thread states that GWB called FDR's signing of the Yalta agreement with Churchill and Stalin, a great wrong of history because it sold out the peoples of Eastern Europe to the Russians.

I consider that, on a scale of heinousness, the Yalta agreemnt pales into insignificance compared to GWB's grandfather Prescott financing Hitler and assuring his rise to power.

You be the judge.

humanity. I am not an apologist for what was done at the time by FDR, Churchill and Stalin, but it certainly pales in comparison to what the Bush Family and Co have done in the past and plan to do to in the future, to the people of this planet, (and in fact, all the inhabitants) if given free rein. The Bush family motive has always appeared to be purely the love of money, and their partners in crime seem to personify the seven deadly sins.

6. You're kind of new here, Charon. It's a good question, but it wasn't just
Prescott. There were plenty of American swastika admirers at all levels of US society from The Bund to IBM and Ford. How many invested with the Nazis is unknown, but a possibility not to be discounted today.

Here's a useful background link on US/Nazi profiteers.

And here is one (if not the most) of the most damning articles detailing the Bush/Nazi financial connections, it's by John Loftus (former Nazi profiler) and centers on Fritz Thyssen and the Bushes.

4. Even REPUBLICANS call them 'Brownshirts'
Just goes to show there are many, if not most, good Republicans left. The writer was an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury under Pruneface and Wall Street Journal editorial page honcho.

Conservative Sycophants Lose Credibility

by Paul Craig Roberts

EXCERPT...

Conservative journalists and Republican politicians not only lie through their teeth, but also seek to destroy everyone who utters a word of dissent or truth.

For example, Tom Frank of The New Republic (once considered to be part of the hated "liberal press") recently expressed his thoughts in that unfortunate magazine. Frank wrote that dissenters from Bush's gratuitous war should be beaten and even killed. He expressed his wish that Arnold Schwarzenegger would punch Stan Goff in the face. He wrote that seeing Arundhati Roy taken out with a "bunker buster" would be a satisfying experience. As for Sherry Wolf and other dissenters, "I wanted John Ashcroft to come busting through the wall with a submachine gun to round everyone up for an immediate trip to Gitmo, with Charles Graner on hand for interrogation."

What have Stan Goff, Arundhati Roy, and Sherry Wolf done to inspire Tom Frank to reveal his brownshirted inner self?

SNIP...

Conservatives regard dissent as a serious offense, but they think it is treasonous to give the public real information, as contrasted with Fox "News" propaganda. Former Newt Gingrich operative and current Washington Times editorial page editor Tony Blankley believes America's premier investigative journalist, Seymour Hersh, should be arrested for treason and perhaps shot for warning Americans about the Bush administration's plans to start a war with Iran.

7. If real NAZIS had found a political home in my American political party
I would go berserk.
Yet real Nazis found a political home in the RW of The Republican Party.

Real Nazis, their families, colleagues, entire social networks found a political home in America as Americans working for national security.

My father fought against Nazis, military empire and aggression as well as for our US Constitution.

In other words US WWII vets and our nation were betrayed when Nazis were clandestinely recruited by US to battle godless communism in The Cold War.

The rallying point is always clear-our US Constitution--not PATRIOT ACT or Homeland Security nor Executive Orders, etc.

8. Lets avoid the "genetic" mistake
Liberalism believes that all human beings are a product of their
environment, their upbringing and society. Conservatives generally
presume that people are born with superior genetics, based on their
family DNA, and that is why bush is rich. So, to presume the grandparents
of the asshole-in-chief is using the conservative assumption that there
is relevance in the DNA of how the grandparents were successful.

As much as some family history can be enlightening, for liberals to use
this prescot/harriman noise as a way to indict the BFEE is using our
opponents' logical roots and defeats ourselves at the outset.

It does not matter what criminality has gone before in the crime family,
nor does it have any indictment on the present. As much as the present
re-defines history, prescott bush was a greedy small hearted little
shit, and it has become a waste of goodwill to bother indicting the
DNA of a clan by the theeory that kings are born genetically superior
to be kings... and that what great great great grandpa did, has anything
to do with your upbringing and the choices you make today.

It is a denial that we have free will, and make choices as human beings
every moment of our lives, and that these choices are not made by
God, Jesus, the church or the government, but ourselves, because
WE* have free will. !
